Really struggling to pinpoint, "The Entity's Future" cue. Is it a suite? It plays like an alternate version of The Icecap.

Still doesn't really explain the drama on RN.
 
I thought Cruise approved of the retro sound and a lot of percussion, but but McQ (or possibly other producers) didn't. Apparently "there's too much timpani" was said at one point.
 
But McQ mentioned Kraemer in the interviews and said he wish he'd done an isolated score for it, too. So do we, McQ. 
 
If Joe Kraemer wrote 4 scores as entertaining as RN, it would surely have been one of the greatest action score franchises ever. RN has that PERFECT summer movie vibe.

Yay, popcorn adventure music! It sounds exactly like what I'd expect from Desplat. And it's miles beyond most of the blockbuster garbage that comes out these days. I'm in!

The raw audio of the main theme sounds even better than the final mix. Why do people seem to favour making orchestras sound fake, these days? I genuinely don't know what started that phenomenon.

Something about her little quirks reminded me of her. Finally looked up the voice actor...it is her. Alessandra Mastronardi. 😍 How insane is that? My brain picked up on that from a mocap and voice performance only. Bravo, technology. 👏🏻

I was surprised they didn't go full Moonraker and have Ethan go after Gabriel's body in skydive mode to retrieve the last parachute. I was kinda disappointed he just got back in the plane and found another one.

Saw Top Gun Maverick at the RAH at the weekend. It thoroughly exceeded expectations - especially the orchestral arrangements of the pop songs. I wasn't expecting that! The score was also WAY better than I realised. Zimmer and Balfe write better music than I give them credit for - they often just record it in a way that lets it down. The "orchestral" score to Top Gun Maverick is fantastic!
