https://twitter.com/scoringsessions/status/673987923323129857: Check out AFM musician Bruce Dukov's unique take on John Williams' STAR WARS fanfare

I actually haven't gotten a chance to watch the full video yet, but I did notice there's a new photo of Williams, taken at the scoring stage, near the end of the video.

Well, if Adam Driver cannot remember if his character has a song, then it means he doesn't sing it in musical theatre style.
It may still be sung by his stormtroopers while he is out of the scene, though.

I like this CD. I pre-ordered it, because I got very interested on his version for Silvestre Revueltas' La Noche de los Mayas. (And of course, Stravinsky's Rite of Spring is always a delight).

I've got mixed feelings with the sound engineering, though. The gap between pianissimi and forte is huge, and if you try to listen something in the soft passages of La Noche de los Mayas, then the striking forte will blow your speakers, crack windows and glasses. Adjusting the volume makes the accomplished delicate parts barely noticeable. Well, few things are perfect!

That CD is fantastic. I also really enjoy Dudamel's take on the Rite.

I think is better if they don't release Williams music in these somewhat insipid "special looks".
The music for this movie deserves a worthy unveiling.

My fears precisely, but I'll hope for the best and give this song a fair chance.
And I prefer to call it Cellar Song because is distinctive, and really idiosyncratic of the witty members of JWFan, while we already have two excellent pieces with "Cantina" in their name.

It's reassuring to know we will have a proper end credits suite, instead of concert arrangements of the themes just glued together. I enjoy this kind of end credits a lot.
I'm also glad to know the movie will close with the same old theme and rebel fanfare. It is part of the mystique of these movies by now.

I would have agreed at some point prior to the bonus trading cards, Target exclusive cover, embossed packaging and that guy saying people want to hear dialogue and sound effects. History repeats itself.

I was there, meeting with an old friend. Great concert! The Luzerne concert hall, one of the best acoustics in the world, seemed virtually sold out. Some impressions:
Sound from the movie was hollow and difficult to understand. It overshadowed some more subtle passages like the Basket game, unfortunately. Other times, when the brass was on full, the orchestra drowned out the movie sound, which was fine by me. This shows how much dynamic range is reduced in the mixing of the movie sound. I especially liked the fat tuba sound!
after a while there was a small synchro glitch between movie picture and sound which was corrected after a while. no big deal.
Ark theme e.g. in Map room was without choir which was imitated by synthesizer. Ditto for some exotic instruments like cymbalon. OK for me.
There was an intermission when Indy starts digging at the Well of Souls. As exit music into the intermission the orchestra played a rendition of the Raiders march from the movie, don´t know exactly which. After intermission they first played Adventures of Mutt from Indy 4 without announcement, but it fitted nicely. Lead directly into part2 of the movie.
On the whole the orchestra played almost perfectly, perhaps a very few notes not quite there, but impressive feat for a complex soundtrack like this. Seemed always in sync with the picture. The fantastic concert hall enhanced the music. I was sitting in the middle of the last row on the most upper balcony and heard perfectly.
There was a whole Indiana Jones experience with dinner before the concert in an adjoining room, but very expensive. Did not participate that, the concert was enough for me. I came extra from Heidelberg to Luzern for this and no regrets!

Hamill may be wearing a full Adam Driver mask, with hair, underneath the helmet in order to further disguise himself.

My favourites are precisely La Fanciulla del West, Tosca and Turandot, although Il Trittico is outstanding too. I highly recommend any Puccini opera, and you can learn so much about music writing and orchestration from his scores! They're all available at IMSLP.

I have only heard an excerpt from La Fanciulla del West, which is on the "The Decca Sounds: Highlights" 5CD set (which is also where I came across Turandot for the first time, in particular Mehta's recording). So far I have only fully explored Turandot but would love to check out La Fanciulla del West sometime as well, as well as La bohème, which I hear is popular.
But yes, Puccinni is definitely one of my favourite classical music discoveries this year! The music in Turandot is so finely tuned, and effective, it's hard not to be gripped by it!
