I think Eiger Sanction's main title is quite long.

I definitely believe in the power of music transforming a scene but that doesn't apply to every scene.
Then get the hell out of this forum!! We(except pub you and some others) love films that are not necessarily perfect but have some great music, heart and soul in there, not only the appropriate music

Semantics!! The one who observed it was too loud agreed those comments! Well totally useless to argue, you can always ban me. Bye.

The overall attitude of this thread is not that people are annoyed with orchestral music. How did you read this thread and come away with that interpretation?
Orchestral music too heavily orchestrated, too loud mixed. That's the problem if you read it right?

I wasn't complaining, personally; just saying that you'd be hard-pressed to ignore the music.
My comment wasn't for you personally, just the overall attitude of this thread, so many people annoyed by the heavy orchestral music. Same people here can't stand the music in the end of E.T. , too much for them. Huzzah

What is wrong with you people? It's perfect as it is. And I would say Azkaban(best score of those three) mix is annoying, music is way too low. But hey, I love Williams.

Yeah, but odd that Presto did not get their initial order given that they are a big partner to DG in this space. (But likely not to Universal Music.)
This just came in from Presto:
"We have been notified by our supplier that your item is unexpectedly out of stock. We expect this situation to be resolved within the next two weeks and will despatch it as soon as possible."
The next two weeks!! Damn!!😱

Alas, Presto informed me on Friday that they are delayed in shipping my copy of the Blu-Ray. This, despite, having ordered within hours of the listing going live in June. I don't know if this means their entire shipment was delayed and I am not alone or if this only impacts a handful of folks.
I also have one on order from Amazon US, and that is indicating a Friday delivery next week.
DG has shipped my 10" Film Themes mini-LP and it's on the way over the Atlantic.
I also got delay notification yesterday from Presto, they expect to despatch my order within the next few days.🤔

You must be either one in the front row, the JW t-shirt might be too obvious, so I would say the other one🤔😜

Loved every second of this. Can't get enough of Williams talking, I wish it was much much longer.
Also, beautiful performances, brilliantly filmed and recorded (How come I'd never realised before that there was a piano in Princess Leia's Theme?)Simply wonderful.
There is also a wonderful celeste part in the second part of the flute solo. Mystical colour.

Ireland's National Symphony Orchestra included it at the JW 90th birthday concert: (1:59:07)
They also included it as part of a May the Fourth concert which I believe was broadcast on the radio (RTÉ Lyric FM), but can't seem to find a record of it in an archive.
Oh I love that music!! And oh I hate when it doesn't go anywhere. Only rubatos. Nice playing though.

Wait, what now?
Wasn't the story that Nicholson's character whistled Devil's Dance in the film and it was performed by JW?😜

I voted for the Cello. But it could more the performance. ASM is wonderful with the concertos but her touch with the classic themes is so wrong. Too much everything, vibrato, passion etc..

I think I like the descending 4 note motif that ends the offical recording more than ostinato version that ends the revised llive performance. I am sure the latter will be the "official" end to the signature edition, and it does tie the piece together nicely, but the descending notes strike me as more dramatic.
Indeed it is better. Could be Holt/Ross' writing.
