    Thank you!! Brilliant!

This just shows how good he is. All those brilliant modulations are just in the right places to rise the feeling and to continue the story. I hope they could have done this also in SW9

Unsure of where to post this - but I started a piano arrangement of this piece a couple of years ago and never finished it. In tribute to the wonderful work Kobe put in on this film, and of course his exceptional sporting career, I now have. Sheet music can be found in the video description

Excellent.  It really shows what a magnificent little piece this is.  I would love a five minute concert piece from Williams.  His elegiac approach to the original project was fitting enough at the time, but now it has such a heightened sense of poignancy.

I was on the right hand side, front row on the balcony. I've seen Williams twice before (both Hollywood Bowl 2014/16 I think), but neither of those even remotely compared to yesterday. The intimacy of the venue, the sense of complete harmony of the audience to JW and of course the complete and utter respect of the musicians for someone whom even a decade or so ago they may have regarded with some disdain. The concert met and exceeded my expectations really beyond what I had hoped for - even the presence of ASM and the numerous revised arrangements seemed somehow befitting of the venue and atmosphere.

I felt as if the hall, as grand as it is, did suffer from some excess reverb (somebody mentioned earlier that this is more pronounced in the higher balcony seats as opposed to the stalls), however it's such a minor complaint and didn't in any way spoil the occasion nor mar the tremendous musicianship on display. One can only hope that this is a wake-up call for Williams to realise how appreciated he is in Europe - very strange not to see the 2018 LSO concert rescheduled but perhaps this makes that more likely?

I would be thrilled if he'd come back next year with a programme of, say for example, the Geisha suite, Five Sacred Trees, and a lengthy suite of War of the Worlds film cues. Something completely different. Of course for an occasion like this first Vienna concert ever it absolutely makes sense to do a best-of selection containing all the favorites (thankfully with quite a few welcome surprises thrown in the mix!). But in general it seems to me that the common program selections for concerts with film music are akin to every Beethoven concert containing the first movement of the fifth symphony and ending with the Ode to Joy.

    (Slight tangent following:)
I've heard more than once from more classically-minded listeners that (regardless of the musical quality) the music for e.g. Indiana Jones were very monotonous with only the same theme being repeated over and over - and being surprised to hear that in the actual score the Raiders March is used very sparingly and the variety of music is much greater. That's a thing that I hope the proliferation of live-to-projection concerts helps with, making more of the audience aware of the actual scope and musical diversity within the score.
