  1. Some CDs have track titles embedded in them as "CD text". If you have a player, or software, that reads CD text, you can check those embedded titles.
  2. If I were to listen to a single funk track by Roy Budd, which one should I listen to?
  3. Yeah, why would they use an isolated photo of a guy listening to headphones if listening to headphones wasn't part of the clue? Could it be... the Sound of Music?
  4. He was too good to last...
  5. Is there nothing this man can't do??
  6. Nice trailer, I'll have to watch that sometime.
  7. It seems likely that info has never been released, though it was never on my radar in the first place, so who knows. If not, I would guess it was only used for recording the two soloists, and maybe any pieces performed by a small ensemble. Some of the "ethnic" textures that complement the orchestra. One would assume that Sony Pictures Studios was used for typical full orchestral score material. I did find this, where Williams mentions recording Ma and Perlman there: https://www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/john-williams-great-performances-theme-song-and-interview/4075/
  8. After Finn quit being a stormtrooper, it would have been funny if he still had stormtrooper aim for all 3 movies.
  9. That would have actually been amazing haha. Plus it would show one stormtrooper was competent, without killing off any heroes.
  10. This hipster has one. Right now she's probably enjoying Mondo releases that the rest of us can only dream about.
  11. I have a CD player in my car and one in the house, and I've played it on both. It's in a jewel case, so I'll file it away with all my "real" CDs. It would be nice to have a label on the spine for that purpose, but I'm not sure if I'll get around to that. Maybe I'll write one up by hand, if nothing else. I did have fun drawing artwork on the discs in sharpie. Did you burn a copy yourself?
  12. I'll have to listen to the Powell score at least once. I look forward to hearing Zimmer's Dune score as well, I think we're all expecting him to try a little harder on that one. His Bond will be interesting to hear too, no matter what the results are. I want to hear Top Gun for Faltermeyer, so Zimmer's involvement there might potentially be frustrating, if the score feels too watered down, or if Faltermeyer's contributions are not apparent. I buy lots of vinyl, but it's almost all original pressings from the actual vinyl era (and usually not film scores). I still like buying new CDs... but not as much for expanded film scores, in which case I would rather be able to buy a digital copy, because I feel the need to rearrange things too often. It worked out well with Solo, where once I got the program I liked, I actually burned it to CD for the first time in a long time. Roy Budd sends his regards!
  13. The themes fit together so well that it seems very natural to place them in the same suite, much like Hedwig's Theme with Nimbus 2000. The Rebellion is Reborn was a less natural fit, but as a result it's kind of cool to hear how he made two themes unexpectedly work together.
  14. I went to Barnes & Noble again, and they had a December issue of BBC Music magazine, but it wasn't this one! It had a different cover story and a different CD. WTF. Scam for sure.
  15. Always call it "expanded"... Disney hasn't yet learned the lessons that our special labels have learned. It's the right amount of completeness. I have the final word, because I am Smeltington.
  16. The bonus tracks are great, this release seems ideal to me. I checked out the other unreleased tracks when they first came out, but found them too insubstantial to bother with. I might end up buying this new version, hirezzed.
  17. My personal favorite bonus tracks playlist is the one I put together for Return of the Jedi. EDIT: also just remembered HP1!!!
  18. Yes, very typical Desplat. Vaguely pretty, wispy, ostinato-based music. Goes down easy.
