  1. Yeah, bikes seem to be more popular here than ever, but we aren't about to catch up to Europe. It's tough since the infrastructure is not set up for it. Biking is popular in Boston, and they're continuously adding more bike lanes, bike paths, even some bike traffic lights, so it can be a pretty efficient way to get around, depending where you are. But that's all in and around the city. Even if there was a bike lane from Boston to Tanglewood, I would not sign up for that ride haha. Biking e.g. for a commute takes a lot of determination in most parts of the US, again due to the lack of infrastructure and having to share the road with cars. Biking for recreation and exercise is pretty common, and lots of rail trails are popping up everywhere these days, plus mountain biking. So progress is being made, but at the same time, cars are so well established, and the country is just too big and spread out. New England is a bit more like Europe in the sense that a lot of cities and other destinations are closer together than other parts of the US, and there are actually more options for public and alternative transportation, but still Tanglewood seems to be an island unto itself.
  2. Yeah you need a car for Tanglewood. It sucks but there's no way around it, unless you're extremely stubborn and don't mind spending too much time and/or money to find one of the very few, not great, alternatives. There's NO Uber or Lyft in the Berkshires, and no cab companies. The only transportation I know of is a Peter Pan bus that stops in Stockbridge (not sure if it stops anywhere else nearby) just once a day, I want to say at noon, and takes like 7 hours to get to Boston. And then there are a few local residents who offer rides if you can find their contact info, and want to spend the money and also potentially ride in a car that wouldn't qualify for Uber service lol. I agree walking from Lenox is legit though, if you're ok walking along the side of the road for that distance. Getting out of the venue at the end can take time, because Film Night draws a huge crowd, and lines form at the exits.
  3. "Disney Legends Award recipients will also participate in a hand print ceremony at the end of the event, and their bronzed prints will be displayed in the Disney Legends Plaza at the company’s Burbank headquarters." Think John will show up for this? Maybe Harrison will have a new colonoscopy story to share with him?
  4. Well don't give up too quick, sometimes tickets will come back up as people abandon their cart, etc.
  5. Don't forget, while you're waiting you could try calling the box office and see if you get through to them quicker.
  6. Tanglewood on Parade is a one-day festival type of event that takes place not only in the shed, but at different locations around the Tanglewood grounds. It includes a variety of performances by various talent, and towards the end it culminates with a shorter set conducted by Williams, then another conductor (e.g. Lockhart) doing some classical repertoire, then the 1812 overture for the finale, followed by fireworks. Because Williams' set is short, the event is so close to Film Night, and it happens on a Tuesday, it's usually not so well-attended by members of this forum. Film Night is a bigger deal for us. But @rpvee and myself both attended last year, and personally I really enjoyed the whole thing and can't wait to go again this year. Plus last year the Williams program from Tanglewood on Parade didn't overlap with the Film Night program at all.
  7. For me, yes! I was refreshing the page constantly, like once per second, and the button finally appeared exactly where you'd expect. I think it was pretty well timed to appear right at 10. I didn't have to wait in any virtual queues or anything, but then I went in afterward and bought a ticket for Tanglewood on Parade, and that one had a queue.
  8. Congrats! @Andy did you get in too? I feel like the support beams are further back than that. Can't find any info about possible obstructed views online though.
  9. Wow, weird, I doubt it sold out that fast. Don't give up yet... also for anyone having issues, I wonder if calling their box office still works? I remember doing that back when their online ticketing system used to have some serious problems.
  10. Got some good seats in section 8! That was surprisingly easy this year.
  11. Yes, so anyone doing that, make sure you log in! The general onsale is tomorrow same time.
  12. I believe the BSO page you linked will update by 10am EST.
  13. Last year I spent $65.50 per ticket, including fees, to sit in section 20. I recommend the shed, and not the lawn, if you want to see the stage. And buy your tickets right at the onsale time, because they usually sell pretty fast. Excited for you!
  14. Well, unless your sister wants to celebrate my visit to Vienna by making me a sachertorte, I'll have to start with the original and go from there! Ignorance will be bliss. And do I need to avoid the Cafe Imperial for this one?
  15. Pretty much! After last week's Harry Potter-free Carnegie Hall program, I'm ready to course correct. I really love the Children's Suite, and I've seen the HPSS live-to-picture twice now, so the suite is the biggest missing piece! And it's criminal that Williams never includes anything from Azkaban, which is part of the official canon of JWFan's top 10 Williams scores. Although you can argue that some of this material is in the LTP, but whatever! At least we get a broadcast of Window to the Past to cherish. The first half Star Wars suite is where I realized I had a bunch of random Star Wars tracks and grouped them. Whereas you probably caught on to the fact that the encores form a sequel trilogy suite. It would have been nice to include something from Phantom Menace, but it's ok, I'm still basking in the glow of last year's Film Night selections from that score. And RotS is covered by my fantasy program for Williams' set at Tanglewood on Parade : Anakin's Dark Deeds/It Can't Be Remembering Childhood Where Dreams Are Born Is there a Sid Ramen track that hints at how he would approach Canto Bight? And, when will we see your list?
  16. This was a fun exercise. I've wished many times that someone would ask me to program Film Night! Of course, the best outcome would be a three-night Williams festival with no repeated material. But as it is, here's the first half of the concert, conducted by whoever is up to the challenge, likely Keith Lockhart, since he seems enthusiastic about programming and conducting Williams "rarities": The Land Race Three Pieces from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: A Window to the Past Buckbeak's Flight Double Trouble Three Random Pieces Some Guy Picked from Three Random Star Wars Movies: Anthem of Evil The Death Star Love Pledge & The Arena A New Beginning The Raptors Appear / High Bar and Ceiling Tiles Freedom's Call Remembering Emilie, and Finale The Fabelmans That's a first half close to 50 minutes, an unwieldy and improbable John Williams smorgasbord. But that's why it's my fantasy and not my reality. Second half, conducted by a turbo charged John Williams, for another 50 minutes: The Adventures of Tintin Selections from the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Children's Suite: Hedwig's Flight Hogwarts Forever Voldemort Nimbus 2000 Fluffy and His Harp Quidditch Family Portrait Diagon Alley The Mine Car Chase Farewell Neverland Canto Bight (encore) Farewell and the Trip (encore) The Rise of Skywalker (encore) This exercise made me realize most of my essential Williams tracks fall into one of three categories - finales, setpieces, or theme arrangements. As an insider, can you confirm that the above program will be used for this year's Film Night?
  17. Stuff like this could be the side effect of everyone ONLY ranking their top ten. Maybe the Reivers is everyone's 15th favorite! Which means it doesn't appear at all...
  18. I can't find any articles that mention it, but discussion of it starts here: https://www.jwfan.com/forums/index.php?/topic/28858-across-the-stars-williams-mutter-collaboration-album/&do=findComment&comment=1550380 Fal posted a video the same day on the next page, but now it's gone. Anyway that was my source for the info.
  19. I got this helpful reminder yesterday. I kinda wish I had clicked on it...
  20. Nice! Added to the list. I probably should check over all the jwfan.com Mutter concert reviews at some point, for more info like this. Edit: Well, I went through them all and didn't turn up much. Although @Falstaft mentioned here that the Hedwig and Across the Stars arrangements had already been revised by the July 8, 2019 concert at Tanglewood (at which point the album had already been recorded, in April). In the case of Hedwig, from looking through earlier pages of this thread, I think he means Hedwig was different in comparison to this "single version" that was released first? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbbmkxtD3aI Does anyone know if the single is actually a separate recording vs. an edit of the longer recording that was released on the album? Across the Stars was first performed on Nov 6, 2018 and appeared on YouTube, so that must be the earlier version Falstaft referred to. @Falstaft any other knowledge you're able to share about the versions that were heard at that Tanglewood concert, vs. the versions released on the album?
