  1. That is an acceptable statement IMHO. Morricone's name, like it or not, is synonymous with those spaghetti westerns in the general public's eye (I think there is a difference between general public and real 'dummies'). Likewise, as you said, Williams is most probably the Star Wars guy.
  2. Wow, how could I have never noticed this in the strings! IMHO this is easily the most blatant so far. This could be Williams' very own '4 note motif'! Yea, I know, its only 3 movies. It's also in "The Spiders" from CoS. I think that's all of them. Ray Barnsbury Where exactly does it appear in The Spiders? I've tried listening but can't quite place it. Ok, there is one part around 3:30++ which may have it, but its quite a stretch.
  3. well, I think last time there were a few " Hogwart's " instead of " Hogwarts' "
  4. hmm...i remember reading it somewhere before, cant find or remember the source anymore. i may be wrong about that. sorry.
  5. actually, i feel asteroid field is closer to basket game from Raiders
  6. i never (and probably never will, considering where I live) got to see JW in concert (on TV or live)
  7. Dobby the House Elf from CoS and Nocturnal Activities from ToD btw, that running strings motif being talked about also appears in Dueling with the Basilisk, albeit slightly, 'mutated'
  8. Me too. First time I've heard of anything you just said.
  9. Erm, I think the Battle Over Coruscant has quite a bit of lifts from TPM, when the Invisible Hand starts to go down. Duel of the Fates was lifted. Erm, what else? Arrival at Coruscant also appears to be identical to previous movies. I think Lucas is more to blame. However I felt tracking in Duel of the Fates worked well. The worst tracking ins are done in AOTC's arena battle. I rate PoA the best HP in my book, but the more I listen to SS, the better it gets. Still 2d for me though. Not sure about reason for the direction PoA took, either Williams was feeling particularly inspired (it is a great score), or like you said, the director wanted it. After all, Alfonso Cuaron did not want Williams initially.

  11. Just wondering, how did you guys get into this in the first place? For me, well, I cant remember a time when I HAD NOT watched the original SW trilogy (I was after all, born in 1988). Naturally, I fell in love with the music and JW was the first musician I ever knew. The rest, is history. PS: was the low piano hits representing the AT-ATs in Battle of Hoth ever used on any version of the film? Dont know why, but I have such vivid childhood memories of it despite owning the OST (and hence listening to the track minus the visuals) for hte first time only a few years ago. I thought it was excised in the SE but then when I got my hands on the TR47 rips of the O-OT LDs, it still wasnt there.
  12. wow, i googled it and it looks great. thanks for the heads up! that wasnt quite what i meant really. not all the SE elements were bad, I didnt really mind the CG XWings.
  13. What cues/tracks of JW do you think sound similiar? So far, I've picked out: The Burning of the Plantation from The Patriot (about 4:10 onwards) sounds like a true ancestor of Anakin's Betrayal. Marion's theme is also similiar to Han and Leia, though I dont count Han and Leia and Princess Leia's theme, because Han and Leia was intentionally a evolution of Princess Leia. What else have you guys noticed?
  14. I havent listened to any of them BJE. where can i get them?
  15. Little Mermaid was pretty good IMHO. Beauty and the Beast however, now that deserved to win
  16. i must applaud the effort you guys are putting in. u know, one thing i'd really really love to see in the future is an ultimate fan edit of ANH. Use the DVD for most purposes, source from the laserdiscs for Han/Greedo, cut out Jabba and fix the music in the Battle of Yavin. that would be awesome!
  17. frankly, i had high hopes for the family theme introduced in PoA on the A Window to the Past track. may JW return for the next installment
  18. Dont know whether this has been posted before, but its hilarious! Check it out http://winterson.com/2005/06/episode-iii-b...ke-of-west.html
  19. d'oh! no wonder. and here I am digging around dragonheart or magic sword! oh well, at least i got the dragon bit right thks ray!
  20. i think its also to do with the way george makes his movies nowadays. we no longer get long stretched out tracks like Battle of Yavin or Hoth. Instead, he prefers to cut and paste and track in music from his previous movies. that arena battle in AoTC with tracked in TPM music is plain embarrasing
  21. somehow i'm thinking dragons or big flying friendly monsters, dont take my word for it though
  22. aieee!!! this is so familiar...cant place it yet though....is it from a cartoon?
  23. yes, i love F&A a lot, sadly its usually overlooked and hard to find in my part of the world. mediocre movie though
  24. btw, what cues which are unreleased in Ep2 and 3 would you like to see in the future? for me, i think there are some bits and pieces here and there but nothing as siginificant as the omission of the two big Force theme statements in TPM
