  1. Ah. So THAT's it. Thanks a lot! So this comes up frequently in other John Williams scores as well? I'll pay attention to it next time.
  2. I always use MP3Gain on my soundtracks to make the average volume of the album 89 dB so that all albums have got pretty much the same volume. In the case of Lair, it would require the volume to be decreased by 9 dB to achieve this. I wonder if the volume were decreased like that, would it remove the "clipping" issues heard when the music is particularly loud?
  3. Perhaps he doesn't really have a style of his own, but then I am very bad at recognizing music "styles". Sure I hear the difference between Jerry Goldsmith, Hans Zimmer (and co) and John Williams, but those are obviously different. I still have to find out what this "John Williams boom-tzzzz" is all about. Shame on me! That being said, I have heard not a single pirate score that sounds similar to Cutthroat Island. Sure it's got the swashbuckling pirate sound, but it does sound different (and better) than everything else I've heard. It's no Hook*, no Sea Hawk, no Captain Blood and no Pirates of the Caribbean. * Note: The only reasons why I consider Cutthroat Island to be a better pirate score than Hook is because Hook isn't an all-out pirate score and Cutthroat Island is more serious.
  4. Could that be somewhat solved by decreasing the volume of the tracks a bit again? Or is the problem now in the tracks? I seemed to notice that the "Battle for Asylia" cue has the choir much less noticable than on the iTunes release. It's not "repaired" per se; it's still got the pops and clicks. My version is basically a merge between the iTunes release and the game rip, replacing the game rip tracks with the iTunes release tracks and adding some of the iTunes theme tracks that are completely missing from the game rip. The idea was to make the best and most complete version available. However, it still needs some work, I think. Mostly in the "pop and click" department. I could use some help in tracking them down. I need the exact times of the pops and clicks; then I can probably fix them relatively easily. But I am not very good at tracking those kind of things down, because I don't have the time to listen to the thing in full very frequently and because sometimes I just miss them because I end up listening to the music instead of trying to find the small problems.
  5. LOL. I laughed at that one as well. In reality it's 17:54. Provided that you're talking about what I think you're talking.
  6. There already IS a game rip. I know it has some occasional pops and clicks, but these can be fixed relatively easily when you know where they are. I have a mix of the game rip and iTunes release uploaded to make the most complete edition available, so if you want the link, just say so. I haven't fixed the pops and clicks though. But really they're not frequent and not that bad either.
  7. Neither would I. But I thought perhaps the person who wrote that text would. Just trying to figure out where it came from.
  8. Woops; sorry. Hadn't caught that. There is some worthwhile stuff in the various set reports shown on this page: http://www.theraider.net/news/fullstory_indy4.php?id=339 It also includes information on the future Steven Spielberg Tin Tin project. Sounds good.
  9. "Anakin's Heroic Theme"? Could that have anything to do with the "Pod Race" music being put in the Gungan retreat scene? Anakin's theme is in there, isn't it, playing as the Gungans run away. Perhaps that's where the writer got the idea from.
  10. There is an "End Credits" track? Is that the "Epilogue" track or something different?
  11. I like the finale to Temple of Doom that is played before the End Credits and is not on the OST. Perhaps it is an idea to add that in there somewhere? I have no knowledge of music writing at all, but I imagine it would be awesome if you'd have the Raiders March part of "Flight from Peru" seguing into the finale from Tod and ending with the well-known Raiders March finale.
  12. I put together the tracks from the iTunes release with the tracks from the game rip to include (almost) all music and should be the most complete Lair version available. The only track not included is Training, because it is similar to Civilization Theme but has a different, but incomplete, ending. There are occasional plops and clicks in some of the game rip tracks; I have been unable to find completely clean versions. If anybody is interested in this, send me a PM and I'll give you the link. Some help fixing the plops and clicks would also be most appreciated.
  13. I forgot to mention: I think John Debney should be given more projects of epic proportions. He seems to respond really well to those kind of things, but unfortunately he usually scores comedies and the like.
  14. I know it's fake. I said fanmade, didn't I? But for a fanmade trailer, I thought it looked pretty good and convincing.
  15. As far as I'm concerned Cutthroat Island can compete with the better John Williams scores. Sure John Debney doesn't write brilliant music on a regular basis as John Williams does, but he IS capable of it and when he does, it is absolutely amazing.
  16. This is a pretty good fanmade Indiana Jones IV teaser trailer: http://youtube.com/watch?v=nYPECXaVulg
  17. I don't see what people would have against John Debney. He wrote Cutthroat Island, for crying out loud! Yesterday I also listened to the Lair iTunes release and I must say that one is also really good. The only thing I considered to be odd was Jamer Horner's danger motif at the end of the Civilization Theme, but that's the ony question mark I have. Other than that: very impressive.
  18. Does anyone still want the file? Otherwise I'll remove it from my webspace.
  19. As good as the music from other composers might be, I find that John Williams is simply the best. He (almost?) always manages to write music that is 100% appropriate for the scenes and films and greatly helps the film. His music works great in the films (provided it is not cut to pieces), but also on album. He manages to put in excitement, enthusiasm and emotion in his music with apparent ease. And one of the most impressive things about John Williams is that he is consistent. I have never heard anything from John Williams that is not good and he has written an incredible amount of truly excellent scores. Other composers might write the occasional excellent score, but John Williams does it virtually all the time. *Is impressed*
  20. That was posted on an Indiana Jones IV forum by somebody who doesn't have much enthusiasm for the whole thing, but does want it to be good. I thought it was funny.
