To be exact: It's the music from 4:00 - 4:22 that I really like. It sounds excellent to me. I don't know if it's very similar to anything else. I might be. But I like that part a lot.

I really don't like Doyle's Goblet of Fire. There are some good moments, but in the end there's nothing remotely excellent in the score. On the other hand, there is a part in Superman Return's "Rough Flight" that I really do find excellent. I haven't listened to Superman Returns in it's entirety yet, but it sounded as if I am less likely to fall asleep during Superman than during Goblet of Fire.

That sounds really quite very good indeed! That above might sound confusing, but I hope you do get that I think it is good. Shame you abandoned that. I would really like to hear the rest. I can imagine it working wonderfully for that scene. Sounded much more interesting than Doyle's Voldemort cue. I almost fell asleep during that one when I listened to it. Can't have been the intent.

No SFX at all? NICE! Are you willing to share it with the people who would like to listen to it?

About GoodMusician's TPM edition: I personally would have preferred it if tracks that are supposed to go together would've been edited together instead of making them all seperate tracks. However, I listened to the complete set and found that it actually does work quite well with the tracks being seperate. I am planning to use GoodMusicians edit to make my own "special edition"-like TPM album. In the end I think it is the best decision to have the tracks seperate, even though I don't prefer to listen to it that way. If you don't want them seperate, you can edit them together reasonably easily using some fade ins, fade outs and pastes. However, if they ARE merged together, you can't separate them again if that is how you'd have liked the tracks. I can see that a LOT of effort has gone into the making of this edit. And having listened to it, I can confirm that this edit is the best TPM soundtrack version I have ever heard. Just like all other editions, this one is not perfect, but it certainly comes closer than any other edition I've heard. I have listened to the OST, the UE and three different edits made by people. I consider GoodMusician's version to be the best because of the following reasons: - It has the most unreleased music - It has the best audio quality in the unreleased tracks - It has the unreleased music edited together in the originally intended order - It has clean openings and endings for as many tracks as possible The above reasons make this version the best available. It is a good version to listen to on its own, but it is also a good version to use as a base version to make your own TPM edit. I noticed several imperfections in this edition as well, which I PMed to GoodMusician. He gave me an explanation on why it is like that and I am fine with that. I will change it on my own edition once I make it, but they are deliberate creative choices that GoodMusician is happy with, so there's no need in getting worked up about it. In the end, this is GoodMusicians own edit which he made to please himself. It is very kind of him to provide this to anyone else who asked for it, but if you don't like it, you don't have to use it. I want to thank GoodMusician for his great work and for making it available to us as well. So THANKS A LOT!!!! About GoodMusician's upcoming AotC edition: Personally I would not like to have any tracked music in there. The best AotC extended edit that I can imagine would be an edition that has all the music from the OST in the original intended film order with all the unreleased music from the games added as well. In addition to that I would like DVD rips included for the most important music that would otherwise be unavailable, such as the real Ambush on Coruscant and Shmi's Funeral. I don't really consider the tracked music part of the music for AotC. I find it misplaced music from TPM that should never have been added to TPM. I would be quite happy with having just The Arena and the Yoda Strikes Back music without having the Battle of Geonosis tracked in. However, what I say above is just my personal opinion. That is how I myself would want to make my own AotC extended edition. That does not mean that GoodMusician must do it the same way. I would like it if he would add the tracked music into seperate tracks though, so the people who don't like it can easily delete it. Perhaps it would even be possible to make two versions of the tracks: One with the tracked music and one without the tracked music. But like I said: Above are just my comments and my suggestions. You do not have to pay attention to my views if you don't want to. In the end it is your work and your edit and I will be happy with anything you come up with. Everything would be better than the OST or a DVD rip.

I've been searching the forum for the threads about GoodMusicians complete edits and I found the following ones: Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (Complete Score) W.I.P. I saw the film for the third time yesterday. I like the film. A lot. And the music does work for the most part. The most annoying aspects are the reuse of old music ("Will and Elizabeth" during some of the fights and "Barbossa is Hungry" during the final fight) and the new theme for "The Kraken". The reused music does consist of new recordings, I think, but I still don't like it. Why not write 100% new music using the old themes, instead of reusing cues? I hate it when cues are being reused. There aren't many composers around anymore who go to the trouble of writing 100% new music for the entire score. John Williams does (except when the director asks him to reuse old music: George Lucas with The Clash of Lightsabers in RotS, for example) and John Debney does. Even great composers like Alan Silvestri and James Newton Howard reuse music from other parts in the film. But at least they reuse good music. But Hans Zimmer reuses music that wasn't all too great to begin with. I personally still like the score to the first film quite a bit. Nothing excellent, but certainly enjoyable. I like the Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones themes for the second film. Also the tracks "Dinner is Served" and "Wheel of Fortune". And "Two Hornpipes (Tortuga)" is defenitly the highlight, being the only true piratey-sounding music in the film. In short: I liked the first score (My rating: 7/10), but the second is defenitly much less enjoyable (My rating: 5,5/10). I think there were some standout moments in the first score, but the second score is partly dull new stuff and partly rehash from the first score. There are only very few nice new parts in the second score. I think I like the trailer music for Dead Man's Chest (Epicon by Immediate Music) better than the film score.

Did that happen while using my webspace? Or did you use my webspace after that problem occurred on some other webspace? I'd like to know. I want to know if the webspace I gave you works properly...

Cutthroat Island is one of the best scores ever written, as far as I'm concerned. One of the few scores that can survive a comparision with John Williams' work. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best pirate score ever. I've listened to all other pirate scores that I could lay my hands on, but although they are certainly good, I just don't find them as good as Cutthroat Island. I find The Sea Hawk too romantic for my taste. Cutthroat Island has nice romantic and beautiful music, but also lots and lots of excellent action music. The final battle music is 18 minutes long and is impressive during every single second of it. There are few composers who can keep up the excitement during such a long time. The choir-usage is also excellent. And although Cutthroat Island does sound classical in a way, it certainly is a score standing on its own and not copying pirate scores from the past. The Scorpion King is very good. Zathura has a nice main theme, though the finale of the main title comes straight out of Star Wars. Chicken Little is fun. In general: John Debney is very capable of writing good music in a short time. Unlike Hans Zimmer who also writes music in a short timeframe, but doesn't really manage to reach the same quality as John Debney does. It probably helps a lot that John Debney uses real orchestra.

That shouldn't be a problem anymore. Check your PMs. Will you be adding the Qui-Gon Jinns Concert Suite to it as well? I know it is not an official concert suite, but that doesn't stop it from being good. :roll:

I like all the prequel films and all the prequel scores. I think they're all good and many parts are excellent. Especially the music. I consider all John Williams' work on the Star Wars prequels 5-star material. Some parts may be less interesting, but it's all very good indeed and better than what most other composers would have written.

I put the composer as Artist and in Composer I put a category name, such as "John Williams", "Jerry Goldsmith" or "Other Composers". That way I don't have too many different composers in my composers list and I still see the actual composer when I play the track. I don't put the conductor, soloists or orchestra anywhere in the tracks. Apart from songs: I put the soloist as Artist there.

On Amazon.com it says that it is a Stargate [ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED]. That's odd. I thought it was to be a new release with more music on it.

Short answer: I like to listen to music, but I have hardly any knowledge of the theory behind it. I could learn, I suppose, but I don't see any need to. 1. How many instruments do you play? (list if possible) I play keyboard once every few years. I try to play film music then and I am usually capable of making it sound similar to known themes. But nothing more than just "similar". 2. Can you read standard music notation? Yes, but it takes a long time to decipher it. 3. Can you write music using standard music notation? Never tried. 4. Have you studied music theory? Not at all. 5. Do you understand the concepts of consonance, dissonance, and harmony ? Nope. 6. Can you comprehend alto clef? Alto WHAT? 7. Can you comprehend treble clef? Nope. 8. Can you comprehend bass clef? I know what a bass is. Does that count? :roll: 9. Can you comprehend tenor clef? Ehm... :? 10. Can you sing? I can sing simple tunes if I know the lines. But to say that I can really sing good: No. 11. Do your ears have training/recognition ability? What does that mean? 12. Have you ever composed/created a musical piece lasting a minute or more? Nope. But I have once pressed random buttons on my keyboard. I didn't record that though. 13. Have you ever done professional musical work? No. 14. Do you understand the concept of ryhthm? More-or-less. 15. Do you understand the concept of pitch? I've always wondered what "pitch" is. 16. Do you understand the concept of ryhthm? Isn't this the same question as above? 17. Do you know the difference between monophony and homophony? Nope. 18. How many instruments can you identify by their sound? I don't know. 10 or 20 maybe? Just the well-known instruments and the truly distinct one. But sometimes I can't even tell if music is synthesized. *Is ashamed* :oops: 19. How musically inclined do you consider yourself? I like film music. Especially good film music by good composers with John Williams in particular, of course. 20. Ever performed in an education/school related band or orchestra? Nope.

Are you going to include the Qui-Gon Jinn's Concert Suite? It is not an official concert suite, but it is very well edited together by the person who did the Star Wars: Symphony for a Saga. Do you have that track? If not, I can send it to you.

Why do you need cables to record the music out of the games? I have frequently recorded the End Credits from DVDs by recording the music straight from the sound card. That way, there is no drop in quality. I do this using a program called "All Sound Recorder XP". There must be more programs that can do it. Unfortunately doing it that way will STILL require you to play the games, because it is not really converting the files.

My post above was NOT an attack on Jerry Goldsmith of any kind. It was simply a sincere question. I have recently tried to get myself more music from Jerry Goldsmith and I am trying to see as many films scored by him as I can. I am very impressed by most I have heard so far. I actually appreciate a lot of Jerry Goldsmith's work. I consider him a very good composer indeed. But much of his music is much harder to appreciate fully on first listen than John Williams' music is. That doesn't mean Jerry's music isn't good, of course. It just means it needs some getting-in-to. So I'm asking for some help in getting into it. It would help to know why people consider some of his scores so good, so I can pay attention to the aspects they mention. I might just agree with them after listening to it some more.

Why exactly is that one so good? I listened to it and it did sound pretty good, but I didn't hear the awesomeness the first time around. Is there anything in particular I should pay attention to? I'm not saying it isn't good. It probably is VERY good and I simply missed why the first time around.
