Pieter Boelen reacted to Trope in Donkey's Song "I'm All Alone" from Shrek (2001) - Synced to unused music
    Hello!

I recently rewatched Shrek (2001), primarily for the purpose of listening to John Powell and Harry Gregson-Williams' great score in context. And wow, was I impressed! It's such a wonderful score and perfectly elevates every scene it is in.

Being very familiar with the score album, I noticed several bits of music on that album went unused in the final picture. One that interested me most was the ending to the track "Donkey Meets Shrek" (1:53 to the end). I always felt when listening that the section from 2:17 onwards was strange and out of place with the rest of the score. Well, upon my rewatch I discovered that this bit of music was actually meant to underscore Donkey's brief song that occurs about 9 minutes into the film! When I synced up the audio from the film and the music track, they line up perfectly! Pretty neat.

Absolutely. Really solid score.  Kamen has taught him well.

I also hope for the re-relases of K-PAX, Johnny English and The Reign of Fire.

It's unfortunate he never got to do a Star Wars project. It's funny actually, as his late wife produced some of the early Disney-era projects. He is EXACTLY the kind of person they should be going for.

My favourite Shearmur score will always be K-PAX - as a synth head, a gorgeous, largely electronic score. But yes - he shines in purely orchestral landscapes too. MONTE CRISTO is a great score. Not a type of score I gravitate towards anymore, but it was lucky to come out in a period where I still did, so it has that connection to me.

No kidding. Maybe with superhero fatigue finally setting in and a bit of luck, we might soon see studios pivot back toward literary sources again for story ideas.

Shearmur has always been supremely underrated.

I remember seeing the movie with my family when it aired on TV when I was a kid, I liked it quite a bit.

I miss those days when we had swashbuckling adventure movies based on old literary classics (Robin Hood PoT, 1993 The Three Musketeers, The Mask of Zorro, The Man with the Iron Mask, Count of Monte Cristo, etc).

I liked that detail because it showed he was more concerned with his partner saying yes than a box literally vanishing in front of him, that felt very human

I worked these up at the beginning of the year, in order to finish out the series started by La-la Land Records. "Order of the Phoenix" turned out to be my favorite.

At the very least it would be nice to get a film (similar to Firefly) just to wrap up the Krill/Moclan situation. But that should be the worst case scenario imo.

i have full faith that these writers and crew could make a 4th season that would be completely worthwhile of continuing

Well obviously the cast wants it to be renewed, nobody would say otherwise to that

But Disney owns the property now and has been hemorrhaging money as of late.  Plus when any TV show that airs doesn't get its next season pickup within a few months, it's a really bad sign.  It's now been OVER A  YEAR since the last episode aired.  Chances of a renewal are incredibly tiny at this point.

What makes you say that specifically?  The strike is sort of a wild card that put everything on pause. There’s always hope that could work to the Orville’s as advantage.

And the entire cast just appeared at the Trek convention in Vegas.  It’s not like they’re all going their separate ways.

At this point it's probably time to face the sad reality that this great show won't be getting a fourth season.  Big bummer.

I already am at the point where I know I'd enjoy a re-watch greatly

Seth said he's cautiously optimistic about a season 4.

I think we will most likely get it. Apparently the Orville has been trending recently on the socials and has remained in the top 10 of streaming on Hulu I think. That will hopefully provide the suits something to think about.

Yea season 3 was the best yet.  The thoughts of what kinds of stories they could tell in a fourth season is tantalizing!

Funny coincidence I just finished watching up to season 3 last week!

I had watched season 1 weekly when it first came out but I don't remember liking it very much and I stopped watching. After seeing everyone glowing about the season 3 score album that just came out I figured I'd give the show another chance - I really loved it. It really is the modern Star Trek, I enjoyed the heavy focus on moral dilemmas and, as others have mentioned, the generally optimistic attitude it takes. Season 3 in particular was spectacular. I'm definitely excited for more

The Orville's Chad L. Coleman Shares The Most Positive Update Yet For Season 4

We’re all in the loop and out of the loop. We think it’s gonna happen, but it’s still up in the air. There’s so much going on with all of these studios that it’s just like, ‘Well, we gotta settle this thing first, then we can really decide on that thing.’ A bunch of that is going on. We hope so. Seth has an amazing relationship with Dana [Walden] and with Disney, who’s running it now. And they said they’ve had promising meetings, so we’ll see.

Star Trek Discovery rolls on like a flaming pile of trash down a hill for its 23 season, meanwhile The Orville, some of the best sci-fi to be made in decades, is begging for its life to be renewed.

They should do a feature film if the streaming climate is too crowded.   I really miss Trek feature films.
