Sony Classical Star Wars Prequel 2-CD Sets?
bob23 replied to Mantigroo's topic in General Discussion
and yell NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! -
This list seems biased against bad films with good scores, Hook and Cutthroat Island aren't even on there. Also where is Star Wars?
-
Like Good Musician said if you buy from the US you won't get the bonus track, unless it is the one from target, but I have the one from target and it is protected (says it won't play on pc/mac and also came up as protected when I checked on the computer). In spite of this, I had no trouble ripping or playing on my computer. The disc is protected, but it is a rather crappy protection.
-
Thats the way to do it. Also be sure to use a good ripping program to ensure your backups don't have errors from the reading of the cd. I use EAC to rip with 2 different drives to make sure that I get a good copy on my hard drive before burning to DVD. Then again I only have around 50 cds. This method is practically impossible/time consuming for those with much more...

How to find specific recording of a symphony (Dvorak's 9th)
bob23 replied to Foxfan's topic in General Discussion
Sorry, I can't help you much, but I would like to point out that just because the MP3 has a file runtime of 11:13, this doesn't mean that the actual cd source has a runtime of 11:13. Some rippers cut off after a certain length of time below a certain decibel level. Therefore the actual tracks could be a few seconds longer. -
Wow, thanks for all of the responses. I'll see how much money I have to spend after I buy books for next semester. Fortunately... or unfortunately :? I am probably going to spend more than I really should. I'm going to get headphones, never liked those earbuds things. I can't stand them being stuck in my ear.
-
My headphones recently died , so I am looking to buy a new pair. Any recommendations? Probably don't want to spend too much more than $50. Thanks

There's some listed on Amazon Marketplace and they are cheap as Merkel said http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00...1938552?ie=UTF8
-
Only the old release, mind you. That's the one I have. Do you know if the newer release has the same transfer? Anyone know? Check this website out http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDCompare2/alien.htm

The painting looks really good, a lot better than I expected before clicking.

Star Wars Trilogy: The Original Soundtrack Anthology: GUTTED
bob23 replied to Quintus's topic in General Discussion
After listenting to the set again (Thanks for the excuse ), I didn't hear as many clicks as I thought I remembered. There are some noticeable ones in The Desert-The Robot Auction. Also at around 0:35 in The training of a Jedi Knight, there seems to be a weird left channel abrupt cut-off or something which is really annoying when listening with headphones. I am fairly confident in my rip, because I used EAC and AccurateRip to check my CRCs with their database. Just out of curiousity, what ripping program do you use? -
Star Wars Trilogy: The Original Soundtrack Anthology: GUTTED
bob23 replied to Quintus's topic in General Discussion
Are you sure, I think that there are clicks from the tapes used to made the cds, not from damage to my cds, because they have no scratches and I can rip them fine. -
Star Wars Trilogy: The Original Soundtrack Anthology: GUTTED

Yeah, it has a lot of clicks on it, which is why I like listenting to the 97 SE's better, but the awesome packaging alone makes getting this set worth it. -
Soundtracks, Compilations, or other recently purchased Music

YEAH!!! -
That may be what you think, but snakes are going to take over the theaters... Good point though, it probably won't make that much, especially if it is going to be R rated. It will probably be pretty popular for highschool and college aged people though. I know I am going to see it, maybe even more than once
-
I think that Snakes on a Plane will be in the top ten. I also think that PotC will be the top grosser, the trailer looks pretty cool and the first movie was good. My list 1. PotC 2. DaVinci 3. Superman 4. MI3 5. Snakes 6. Cars 7. X-men

I've never gotten a CD on Amazon, but all the DVDs I've gotten there have been cheaper than any store around me, including the shipping costs. Sorry, I meant to say that 3rd party sellers on amazon marketplace in the US charge way too much for rare/OOP items (atleast all of the times I have looked). Amazon itself has good prices and I too buy many dvds from there cheaply.
-
That would really suck. Before getting more interested in films, I used to think that the film industry would have been more competent in the area of storage, but now I am beginning to learn the awful truth.
-
Most of the time the amazon prices are ridiculous. I find ebay much cheaper, and the sellers more helpful in answering questions. I pickedup a mint japanese ToD about a month ago on ebay for US $42, which seems to be about the going price on ebay for good copies. The price will probably start increasing as the hype about indy 4 starts to hit, unless new score releases are announced. Hey you got the expanded RotLA for an extremely good price, so it balances out. . Don't sell it, you will regret it if there isn't another release...
-
Re-recording? I sure don't like those. What did they lose the masters or something, or is this a matter of copyright. I hope they release the original recording as 2 disc sets, as I am sure everyone else on the board wants too. Lol, I spent "stupid amounts of cash" on getting those cds recently, but I think it was worth it, especially since no new score releases are on the horizon.

I just got mine today and am listening to it right now . What booklet do you mean. Mine came with a 31 page booklet, but is there a longer deluxe booklet? Anyways it doesn't really matter because the music is awesome anyways. I do now

How Much John Williams Music Is On Your Computer Right Now?
bob23 replied to ashinyobject's topic in General Discussion
21 cds, 345 tracks. I have my whole JW collection in wav format on my computer. Hey it ain't that bad for less than a year of collecting. I have all of my cds on my computer because I don't want to damage any of the cds, especially some of the rarer ones that I have.
