  1. Part of me thinks Doug knows it would be cruel (and perhaps not entirely beneficial to our full comprehension/appreciation of his undoubtedly wonderful book) if we hadn't heard all of what he will be discussing, so surely something is planned. Certainly this book will be very interesting in terms of laying bare the full extent of the revisions. Perhaps they're even worse/more substantial than we thought...
  2. Well he does say 'great detail', so we can have him for false advertising if not.
  3. I refuse to let this forum die. A couple of posts on Doug's blog (remember that?) are worth quoting: Thank Christ that Tauriel bit was cut, but it raises an interesting question. If that is non-canonical, does that mean it wasn't Shore's intention for the theme to be heard in 'Kingsfoil' either? Or does 'recap' simply refer to tracked material? Doug is dropping a lot of strong hints now that we should hear something soon. I guess the book isn't far away. But in all honesty, with all these references to Shore's original intentions and talking about them in detail, I truly hope we get to hear whatever we don't have at some point. Even then, I would also want certain 'non-canonical' film alternates.
  4. I think it's more that people can't be arsed to post long-winded comments about a film if they're not saying something enthusiastic about it. At least, that's my excuse. Like me, I guess he must have missed those real-world lightsaber and force duels.
  5. Maz, in terms of design, performance and realization, was pure arse. I believe that's the first thought on this film I've posted on here. I trust it was worth the wait.
  6. In that case you're coming with us then. I'll pack an extra sandwich.
  7. We'll have the last laugh when Disney acquire the rights to everything Tolkien and proceed to milk his proverbial tit. The Irresistible Rise of Alfred Lickspittle will break all kinds of records.
  8. Fine. But we're taking BB's shit rescore thread with us.
  9. I like to think that when they all come for this sub-forum us loyal few will die defending it.

I don't know, I still think the eagles theme was meant to score their initial arrival, as in the film. That just doesn't sound right over Beorn's bits.
  11. I'm sure back in 2013 I read something about Jed Brophy confirming they'd just recorded a commentary. Perhaps he was mistaken and was talking about interviews?
  12. There's a challenge. I blame Warner, either for skimping, or possibly even wanting to hold them back for this ultimate box set.
  13. Page did Death Wish 3 as well. You're right about it being nasty and exploitative, but crap is just harsh! That bit in 3 is hilarious. They get a call saying the guy's wife is going to be okay, but then when they get there they're told his wife "has expired".
  14. Death Wish 2. A Bronson classic of course (if not quite as good as 1 and 3, my personal favourite), and great to finally have the uncut version on Blu-ray. Has Jimmy Page's tremendous score ever been discussed in these parts?
  15. I'm disappointed no one asked if the rumours of a naked wrestling match between Williams and Giacchino to decide who scored TFA (while Abrams watched on) were true or not.

The theme works great in that scene. It's probably one of my favourite additions.
  17. You're just jealous of my pop-up Hobbit book aren't you? Admit it.
  18. I too ordered the two art books the other day (they're going to be a Christmas present to myself). The only Tolkien-related books I want now are indeed The Annotated Hobbit, which I can't believe I don't have yet, and that Adventures of Tom Bombadil edition that was released recently.

No one cared in the first place BB. Therefore you must carry on.
