  1. So can anyone find ANY evidence to suggest Shore was actively involved in the recording process (i.e., conducting)?
  2. I can't say I'm familiar with Persbrandt, but I'm very intrigued from what I've heard about him.
  3. I'd love to hear a full blown out Khuzdul version when the Company joins the Battle Of Five Armies. Bingo. It has to happen surely, once that wall comes down? Could be one of the great musical moments of all six films.
  4. http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2013/10/04/80027-finally-see-the-human-face-of-beorn/ While I'm not a fan of everything from the neck down, I think he looks good in the face, and am very much looking forward to Persbrandt's performance. I'm sure once the scaling is done he'll look great. Those promo pics are usually always terrible. He already looks better on set.
  5. I think almost all the guys at the front are men in costumes no? Obviously most of the guys behind are CGI, but that's to be expected in shots like that.
  6. Look at the helmets. They do feel "Isengard-ish" to me. Perhaps the general shape, but they're a fair bit 'spikier', a crudeness which seems more synonymous with Orcs. Either way, this is my favourite part of the trailer and an aspect which excites me. I'm happy we're getting fully armoured Orcs. Azog's band are interesting, and I get the hunter dynamic (so not much armour), but these guys are the badass Orcs we want to see. As I suspected, the closed-faced helmets leave little room for CGI enhancements as well, so it's win-win.
  7. Not sure if it really looks like Uruk Hai armour, just seems like heavy orc armour to me, a bit reminiscent of the Minas Morgul ones but quite distinct from what we've seen so far. And, moreover, most of those guys (in the foreground I mean) are humans in prosthetics. The difference is tangible.
  8. Why can't Shore have just paid a brief visit to the US last weekend? I don't think we can read anything into that.
  9. The guy on the ballista at Dale appears to be Girion. Now it was said this sequence would be in the AUJ:EE, and it may well still be (serving as a flashback in DoS to set-up Bard's backstory). But if not, it's further evidence that stuff was moved from that to DoS, which would explain the disparancy between the 13 minutes and those original 20-25 minutes comments.
  10. To be honest I'm a lot more encouraged by this trailer than the last. The second half in particular is very good. Liked that shot of the Orcs coming out of Dol Guldur (?). The Elf plotline is concerning but I notice a lot of what we've seen is just the same stuff, so hopefully it's not too prominent in the actual film. The mandate for these trailers since the teaser for AUJ has been action, so we should be used to how these are constructed by now. Also, Smaug's voice sounds fantastic.
  11. Music? I'm encouraged by the Sauron thing, but the Elves thing is hugely off-putting. Guess I'll have to judge myself when I see it.
  12. It's insulting to both Shore and the orchestra really. It's not exactly going to inspire confidence is it?
  13. Well yeah, but I read that more as the NZSO isn't best suited to Shore's music, for whatever reason
  14. Not sure about that, but reading between the lines, it doesn't really sound like the NZSO is entirely suited to the demands of this particular score. Which is of course concerning. At least the cello bits will be good...
  15. There's money to be made in the CR's, so surely they'll appear at some point.
  16. It's said elsewhere that the Dwarves were hardier and stronger than other races.
  17. Empire said that Sher was shooting Thrain fighting outside Moria (Azanulbizar), so it does appear he'll be playing both 'Young' and 'Old' Thrain, since the last vlog showed some of Thrain and Gandalf in Dol Guldur.
  18. Just to make things even more confusing, it seems as though it'll all be one Thrain in DoS, played by Antony Sher.

I got first billing! Seriously though, great work from start to finish.
