So on the John Campea show on youtube today he was asked about the score. "Was the musical score up to par?" "I loved the music. Loved it. They new exactly when to use the recognizable Star Wars music and they knew exactly when to put John Williams's new stuff. Williams does it again. Williams totally does it again, I love the music in the movie" @ 45.26 (apologies, I don't know how to clip things or make things start in certain places.) EDIT: Also at 51.48 he says somewhat the same thing.

The Last Jedi THE LAST JEDI - New IMDB Credits
ocelot replied to Manakin Skywalker's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Actually he wasn't being disparaging, that's probably a mistake in my wording, apologies, it's more in the sense of what he and others have to do as an orchestrator when it's not and should never be under the orchestrator title and how they are treated by some of the composers. He also says he's extremely blessed to be working, especially nowadays. And what he loves about Williams is how he is respected and treated as a colleague and how he is kept on a schedule that works really well with no rushing needed. Hope that clarifies my post. Again, my wording made it seem like he was being nasty about composers, he was not, at least not to me, it was about what he has to do on many films with other composers that should not be under the orchestrator title. -
Can we get back on track here. No need to argue. It never works on here, or other forums for that matter. Best to take it to private messages and work it out. So.... At least we got a few more tweets about the music. That was nice to see. Hopefully more will come about soon.

I was about to say the same thing. But its cool for people to prefer different scores. Whatever. I just don't like how the woodwinds were mixed out of the score and some of the sloppy string playing in a few sections. Nothing major with the playing just not super tight. Plus the trumpets were a tad too loud in general masking every intricacy behind them. Otherwise a great score in my opinion.

Yeah he was there. (Edit) Campea took a pic of him getting out of his limo on his twitter page. I said Harloff had tweeted it. -

The Last Jedi THE LAST JEDI - New IMDB Credits

Could the credits just be false credits. many people add things to IMDB, after a while they are taken down if they don't actually ring true. Williams did orchestrate everything himself and then send it to Joanne Kane like with TFA I thought. Even Conrad said that everytime he has take a job from Williams he's a glorified copyist. Williams hands him completely orchestrated notes, he's just spreading it out onto a full conductor page. (you should have heard what he said about other composers...) -

The Last Jedi Star Wars The Last Jedi red carpet premiere live stream

@BurnettRM already tweeted about the score And yes, critic reviews are not allowed till Tuesday because for the first time they did not have any screenings with press before the premiere and they wanted everyone who is going to review it post on the same day after a few days of press screenings (or at least that is the story they are going with) -

LOL, I love this one Alan Silvestri ... composer agent Robert Meyer Burnett just tweeted that the score sounds pretty incredible. Not sure how to copy and paste a tweet, lol. Sorry, his handle is @BurnettRM if someone wants to copy it. -
I believe he had already done that to some degree. We will probably find out on the credits. Oh and today is the world premiere so we will see some tweets regarding the music tonight

Ah. I was going with what Screen Rant, Collider and Campea had reported which was that Kathleen Kennedy had offered it to him after they fired Trevorrow and that he had declined and said he was focusing on finishing up TLJ, my bad if it was clarified at a later point. Either way, I hardly think he would have been offered the trilogy had they not been super happy with the movie. Which reminds me. Rian Johnson just came out a few days ago and said that the original runtime for the movie was 3 hours and that he had cut some of his favorite scenes because it didn't fit into the flow of the best cut as he sees it. Does this mean there is around 20 or so minutes of Williams music that we will only hear come the deleted scenes?

Not sure why there hasn't been vids of scoring sessions and little clips of the music and I've been asking myself and others this question. There's always little teases of music coming from the Star Wars movies. As for the movie itself, Disney has so much faith in it that they asked Rian Johnson to helm episode 9 and he declined and they offered him now a new trilogy of Star Wars films that he has accepted and is developing, writing and at least directing the first one of the three. All new characters with a possibility of it being centered around the old republic, although he did say his is not adapting the game, which doesn't mean he won't center it around that era but he wants to do something totally different with new characters. Anyway, back to the music, I have no idea why nothing was ever shown, usually at least a hint of a theme or a clip here and there. Not even Rian Johnson has commented about the score... JJ was all over the score for TFA.

Not only that but we had video clips of John and JJ in the studio and we heard them recording some of the music. JJ kept gushing about the score. Not a peep from Rian about it and it's been done for over 6 months now..... What does this mean? Is it a Giacchino score? Zimmer?
