  1. The LOTR symphony in Londons Royal Albert Hall with the LPO.
  2. I was actually thinking of that too, and it's actually my favorite piece that Williams has ever written. Fawkes The Phoenix sounds quite generic to me, even 'meh'. I guess this somewhat explains my whole meh attitude towards the Williams Potter scores - they're adequate, but certainly no Empire Strikes Back in terms of sheer melody per-moment, apart from Hedwigs theme, perfect as it is. I never thought I'd say that about Williams, but I did with Harry Potter.
  3. A tiger shark! You should've known that KM Probably the Barrel Chase for me too. The music is unbelievably good it this scene. Hmm, was it ever re-recorded with a bigger orchestra?
  4. The part in the movie where it plays as Neary is led by the aliens towards the spaceship is one of Williams' most beautiful moments actually and its also one of his own personal favourites.
  5. The second part of the the Raiders love theme is a waltz.
  6. I don't think you're talking about this, but I've noticed they play The Pet Shop Boys hit 'Go West' around the stadium after a match.
  7. Oh I think Jaws is perhaps even more famous than the Superman ostinato. Just before I clicked the 'submit' button, I thought of Jaws, but I thought what the hell. Okay, excusing Jaws
  8. Brando shot footage for Superman II that has never been seen. The line "Remember me" heard in some of the ads is from this footage. And here is a fun outtake, that should really dazzle fans of Superman II. Neil
  9. A little heavy for my tastes, but pretty darn good all the same
  10. So far for me this is a fairly generic blockbuster score, but whenever it hits the Williams notes, it soars into something else. Kind of ironic I guess. Some pretty decent action cues, but nothing particulary inspired. That being said, I'm sure this is gonna serve the film just fine, thanks mainly to Williams. Though I'm sure the original Ottman material will grow on people in time. Methinks there will be more musical Superman statements in the actual movie than there is on the album. Ottman rightfully wants to keep the first ost release largely original to himself. 4.06mins Not Like The Train Set AWESOME!
  11. As you can tell, I quite like this one:
  12. Bloody hell, I must say I'm suprised by the appearance of this feed - anyone with the slightest knowledge of how XP works will know how to download this for keeps. Is it a crappy bitrate or something? I never checked since I already have the album.
  13. Yup, its on isohunt right now. I've just er, ordered a copy.
  14. The worring thing is (well not really), a lot of Variety's demographic take Todd Mccarthy's sermons as gospel.
  15. "The sometimes ethereal qualities of Ottman's work, amplified by significant choral strains, provide an emotional dimension -- and show up Williams' "Star Wars" thematic variation for the bombast it is."
  16. I'm sure the film's tagline will be: "Who's the daddy now!" Now I want to see THAT on the poster
  17. Yeah I guess you have a point. I don't hate or dislike Horner. Its just that he pisses me off sometimes. Put it one way: He wouldn't want to bump into me in a dark alley.
  18. Hi, I'm a movie buff. What the hell is the Star Wars prequel trilogy? Yeah, I noticed that years ago. I always tell people that Williams himself actually wrote the song (gullible fools ) . In the same way that Elton John basically writes his songs - the music. The lyrics owe it all to the music.
  19. What the hell has this all got to do with my post question?! :?
  20. I was reading some of the posts on your linked page and it seems that quite a few people on there hold the Kong score in very high regard. Some posters chose cues from it as being in their personal top five. I'm quite suprised by this, but I certainly agree its a quality score, especially considering the circumstances in which it was written. Glad to see it getting the recognition it deserves
  21. Munich is a very good film, but it's not great, certainly by Spielbergs standards. Yet it is easily still a five star film. Go figure.
