Nah, I'd rather see him throw that weird globular "S" net over the villains.
Yeah that was impressive........

Actually I would call it shit.

Early word on this is very positive. I'm getting hyped again. But I mustn't! I must fight it. I remember what happened with War of the Worlds.

Yes, I have various BPO recordings of CE3K. What I mean is was that little strings melody ever recorded as a standalone cue? Was it fleshed out enough for a concert performance?
I've noticed King Mark made mention of a version.
-
Ah my misunderstanding. I read you wrong there.

-
I personally Love John Williams for his understanding and love of the recording process, not just the composing process. He brings out certain instruments more than others and he uses the recording process to make the music that much better...
not to mention people just NEED to play things up to speed or dont' play them at all.
If you are directly referring to this cd you do realise that Williams isn't conducting here? The conducters are Nic Raine, Paul Bateman and James Fitzpatrick.
-
Do you think so? I thought it sucked - but am I doing something wrong then?
I meant for something streaming. I was expecting bandwidth-budgeted mp3 quality.
No, the quality was indeed very good. I had a quick check at one point and it was over 128kps.

If adventure has a name, its Allan Quatermain.

There's something really different about this performance of Jaws...
EDIT: Okay, nevermind, that actual cue for the Shark Cage Fugue just started playing.
So you hadn't clicked on the red Real Player text then.

Anyone listening to the Taxi Driver segment, you just don't get the same feeling from this Realplayer broadcast. When I was there, the building snar drum and the explosion of precussion and chord...you really had the sense that the world was coming to an end right there in the music hall, just because of the acoustics. It just isn't the same.
Tim
Nah, I think you're exaggerating

-
Did JW ever expand upon it? Did he ever do a concert version? It seems such a lovely underused theme.
-
Thanks
Great version of CE3K(one of the best i've heard for sure)
It was okay, but too fast in places. Not as good as the ost and BPO versions.
Schindlers List: I like how the soloist brought an urgency to the melody. I've not heard it played that way before.
-
How the hell do I listen? All I see are a bunch of images of Spearkers, but not an actual link. And yes, I did install RealPlayer.
Click on the RED RealPlayer text. But I'm guessing you have tried that.
Oh and the Jaws rendition was pretty poor tbh.
-
Whoah, the forum shows lots of members online, but no posts. It seems we are all listening...
Taxi Driver with the NYPO - the sinister bits. -
Good call, but its the main theme which stands out.

If that women coughs one more time I'm gonna hire a Delorean, travel back in time and garrote her before she even gets in the car.

Yeah, thats a given. I should've linked it myself.
But i'm sure Google Images will play a part too

-
wow, thats neat, I've never seen pictures of Johnny as a kid, or even a young man for that matter.
So you wouldn't have seen this then:

Awwww. Even at that age he didn't think Rockabye Baby was catchy enough. He looks like he's about to orchestrate it.
-
Don't know if this has been done before (probably), but I thought it would be nice to have a gallery of the man himself. Share your images of the legend with everyone.

Don't get too used to that thick head of hair.

The musical school student who probably seemed like an ass licker.

Doesn't he look handsome...

Mwahaha! I'm going to be the musical overlord of Hollywood!

Distinguished. Best get used to it.

Er...

I know very little about musical theory, but am I correct in thinking that pieces like Scherzo For Motorcycle and Orchestra and The Shark Cage Fugue are impossibly catchy for something so seemingly complex?
The Raiders March is another theme which seems so unusual, yet so obvious...?! The mans a genius.
Williams on the Raiders March:
"A piece like that is deceptively simple to try to find the few right notes that will make a right leitmotivic identification for a character like Indiana Jones. I remember working on that thing for days and days, changing notes, changing this, inverting that, trying to get something that seemed to me to be just right. I can't speak for my colleagues but for me things which appear to be very simple are not at all, they're only simple after the fact. The manufacture of these things which seem inevitable is a process that can be laborious and difficult"
I don't think he knows how he does it. He just does. Its God given.

Speaking of releases: which one do you have, TheGreatEye?
The DE features percussion-only versions of several tracks (Combat Drop & Ripley's Rescue), which are both exciting and interesting listens.
Admittedly I only have the original ost, but I Limewired the tracks you mentioned

Yes, they are very good bonus cues. Horner has a particular gift for writing for percussion.
Btw, has anyone noticed what sounds like the banging of a cooking pan during "Ripley's Rescue"?
-
At least they only chose tracks from worthy soundtracks.

Meh.
They should've worked on the 'script' a little.
