  1. Every afternoon one of the DJs on Radio 2 use The Mission as background music while announcing the lineup of their session that day. It's pretty cool.
  2. The more intimately skilled with composition Williams became the more stodgy and boring his music got. This is why his earlier 70s-80s stuff is drastically more exciting than his post Schindler's era output. You can track Spielberg's career arc in almost exactly the same way, it's pretty striking. I also think the differences between analogue and digital play their part in the resonant effectiveness of Williams' sound.
  3. Was it before or after Alien came up in the film thread?
  4. Lucasfilm are the coal miners of digital likeness effects and some dudes on YouTube are the green energy.
  5. If they can't stop it and they can't can't ban it, they may as well use it. Especially since it's superior to any of the other solutions thus far.
  6. Christ, even I don't remember the original CG Bridges looking this bad. I've seen better graphics on the last gen consoles.
  7. I keep hearing about how The Mandalorian riffs on Rocky, but until I'd read the connection here I'd never thought about it and probably never would have done. But I guess they're similar in a way that Jaws is comparable to The Rite of Spring.
  8. I'm totally on board with this and Neeson, even if I'm not expecting much. But ya never know.
  9. The similarities between Carrie and Millie are quite uncanny, I'd never thought about it before either. Oh well, there's a prepacked Leia replacement ready to go then. So of course Disney will cast Maisie Williams instead.
  10. On my 3 year old Sony Bravia the Prime app is fiddly crapola, especially compared to the slick Netflix app. Actual streaming quality on Prime blows Netflix away though. I can't fault Amazon's fidelity.
  11. I do it all the time, it's a deliberate stylistic choice useful for staying on track while providing [hopefully] snappy extra details. It's my forumite prose. I can't speak for Marian's reasons though.
  12. Yeah I basically loved it ever since seeing Gremlins as a kid.
  13. Guy was a genius and one of the single most important figures in 20th century music. My wedding song was one of his, and I love every single one of his "Wall of Sound" era tracks. My all time favourite Christmas song was the one he did with Darlene Love. So it's always particularly gutting when a person you really admire turns out to be psychotic monster. But his music will live on, as will his artistry.
  14. Tbh Parasite is also just a cracking good black comedy. I thought it was thoroughly excellent.
  15. The visuals (specifically, the horrid bloom and overall artificial aesthetic) and the absurdly long time spent in The Shire are my main [major] annoyances with the movie, but there are nice parts interspersed throughout the adventure, yes. I also just don't like Freeman in role. Yes, I know this a seeming quite peculiar view, but I never warmed to his Bilbo even after three movies. Oh and I can't stand Thorin either. Basically, yeah, I don't like it.
  16. Right at the end of the girl in the red coat sequence, she gets taken out by a velociraptor.
  17. Yeah, I remember thinking when Spielberg was making Schindler's List after Jurassic Park, like, shit, I hope he doesn't put dinosaurs in it.
  18. Yeah I saw you chatting about it together over zoom.
  19. Really good slow burner. Although I never bothered to watch the second series.
  20. Strange concern; the game is more than certain to be third person. As for the dialogue... even a game can do better than Koepp.
  21. If I remember rightly you're a pensioner, so in a lot of ways this makes sense.
  22. The girl on girl violence in the second game is on another level.
