  1. Anyone know this Jason Flemyng guy? Apparently he's up for a role. http://collider.com/star-wars-episode-7-script-image-jason-flemyng/ Many Bothans died to bring us this information. Oh! He's the dude that played Jekyll/Hyde in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
  2. I think you're pointing out the various Asian instruments being used to create Smaug's sound. Maybe, maybe... I don't mean the clanging Tibetan gongs, but the two low drones in the first case. There's something about them that sounds curious. Same with a tone at the very end of the second sample that sounds almost like an ondes martenot. Probably just imagining things. I have a suspicion that it might be a superball mallet dragged on a bass drum. That can create a very low, drony, almost electronic sound. I remember Peter Maxwell Davies using that effect in The Devils. The Ondes sound - that could be a bowed saw or rubbed singing bowls. Could be. Probably more likely than Shore suddenly adding electronic elements.

  4. Is it just me, or do those low bass tones in Inside Information sound electronic? There's also something at the very end of A Liar and a Thief that sounds not-acoustic.
  5. del Toro? Carlton Cuse? John Hurt? I'll be there. http://collider.com/the-strain-tv-show-premiere-date-july-2014/
  6. I don't disagree that it can help focus on other tasks. I just worry that some people see it only as that, and don't explore it any more.
  7. Ah yes, Gendry. The problem is that didn't really go anywhere at all by season's end. He's taken, messed with, and then... leaves on a boat. At least it was satisfying for Theon to get what he had coming. Or rather lose.
  8. Although it is slightly embarrassing for those who were edged out by the bear.
  9. His score for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix video game was excellent. It put Nicholas Hooper's live-action one to shame. But Soule's score for the first HP game was terrific as well. It was in Williams' style but it had its own personality. Did he use an orchestra for that one? I know Hannigan did for his HP game scores. Soule did the first two HP games. Not sure about 3 or 4. I love his Skyrim score. It's great "study" music as it fits nicely in the background and isn't too distracting. It's very nice overall and I like the way he changes the main theme with every game to suit the province of Tamriel that the game is set in. Ack! Study music! That most frustrating of concepts! Karol Wow, that's amazing. It's great to know Kamen is so well-respected. I thought Back to Gaya was great! I'll be listening to his work tonight too. B Yes! That's so heartwarming, wow.
  10. Burnett is anything but simply "super marketable." He's a great musical mind.
  11. I've been thinking of doing that. I'll try and post about it as I go too.
  12. There hasn't been an official recording of Williams' viola concerto, right?
  13. The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King It's been a while since I've done the whole thing. Wept like a baby.
