Of those listed Kubrick and Bergman.  Needs more Malick and Tarkovsky.

Nobody is the anyone of any time but themselves, I reckon.  Furthermore, who are you people?

In a BBC Radio 4 interview from this morning, John Williams mentions that he "[hopes] to be in Berlin in October conducting the orchestra". Is this the first we have heard of a potential concert with what sounds like the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra?? What do you make of this? Interview starts at 7:40am (1h40min in) but JW mentions Berlin at 7:44am, (1h44min in)?

If this is to be true and the vaccines are here to enable us to see concerts again, it is amazing to hear JW is still able and willing to work!!

Which is absolutely criminal. The score should be published as well. This piece's relative anonymity is much more egregious to me than that of the symphony or piano sonata or 7 For Luck.

Okay I absolutely have to know.  Why the fuck do you waste your time reading, thinking, and posting about things you so fervently hate?  For gods sake get a hobby other than polluting this forum with your whining.

It's one of his top 5 scores, an exercise in restraint and economy of means that puts his usual touted masterpieces of grandiose bombast to shame, and makes one wish that he would have more fully committed to a kind of pared down style as Jerry did in his later years instead of just dabbling with it in a few appropriate scores, but then, he'd have to take on more appropriate projects, and barring AI Spielberg doesn't really have that in him.  I don't remember much about the film other than it looking very nice.

So many great performances, his smaller role as a man quietly in existential pain in Winter Light is a personal favorite

I also particularly love his delivery of one of my favorite lines in Hannah and Her Sisters:

"If Jesus came back, and saw what's going on in his name, he'd never stop throwing up."

Thankfully we have you to preach the truth to those poor unfortunate souls who like different things than you do.  Hate to be nothing but negative lately but this place is slipping back into its old ways more and more, which is a damn shame.  There was a Silver Age for a little while there.
