Sure, but it doesn't make it enjoyable to watch. It doesn't have a enough of that Spielberg magic to get you from the start to the payoff

Croweyes1121 got a reaction from A. A. Ron in SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE - 3CD Set from La-La Land Records
Am I the only one who gets irritated by posts like this? "Oh good, this is being delivered today. Not one of my favorites, so I'm not going to listen to it straight away, or report anything about it to anyone who might value the information. But you know what I *am* gonna do...I'm gonna head over to the S:TM thread on jwfan and make sure everyone knows I'm getting it today and choosing not to bother listening to it until after I listen to my Azkaban set".
Eh...good for you, I guess? I'm sure we'll all have heard it by the time you "eventually" care to report on it, so honestly, why tell everyone it's been delivered?

No worries. Didn't mean to spew sour grapes.
BTW: Anyone else watch the Oscars last night and notice that they used S:TM for the "In Memoriam" segment?

Croweyes1121 got a reaction from DigitalfreakNYC in Danny Elfman's BATMAN - 2018 Mondo Vinyl release CONTAINS NEW MUSIC {Sold Out in 20 minutes}
Sadly, it isn't impressive at all. Mondo is *infested* with reseller/scalper bots, and as a company, they refuse to do anything about it. All of their releases sell out almost instantly, and already have placeholder entries set up for them on eBay. I'm a movie poster collector. They had a Jaws poster signed by the artist up a while back, and I was sitting there poised at the ready the moment the items went live. They sold out in the few seconds it took me to enter my shipping info. It's a total racket. The people who genuinely want these releases are getting shafted with Mondo every time, and they really couldn't care less.

Croweyes1121 reacted to phbart in E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial La-La Land ANNOUNCEMENT Thread
Well, I must say I had a really great time today. The expectation of the sale, buying it on day one, listening to the samples. I'm a really happy JW fan now.
It all made me think how fans felt back in 1996 when the first expanded release was announced, together with the LD iso score. If this forum existed back then (did it?), I can imagine this going to, like, 50 pages in one day.

Says the person who says a few inserts and overlays aren't important. Clearly they are to a contingent of fans. They certainly matter to me.
And no, the 4K UHD is not "pointless" if you own the blu-ray. Sorry, but while many, many members here outclass me with their intricate knowledge of these scores, the movies themselves are my area of expertise. Unless you're watching a 4K master from the OCN with full 4K workflow (as E.T. is) on display technology that can truly reveal the benefits of it, you really don't have room to say that these new discs aren't an improvement. I will tell you that, at least on my LG OLED65E6P, the new 4K disc is phenomenal, and is not a pointless release in any way.

Okay then!
For me, the only REAL catch of the 5.1 SACD is... the 5.1.
It's mostly front heavy, but it does open things a bit more than the standard stereo configuration. BUT, in terms of sound quality, the 96 CD still wins.

Croweyes1121 got a reaction from Mr_K in James Horner 1953-2015
Sigh...I'm sitting here listening to this cue in my headphones while I work...
...and I have just the oddest feeling, like I've lost a dear friend...whom I never knew personally...with no way to express how personally I feel the loss to anyone in the "real" world, because I know it'll sound stupid. Yet the feeling is very real. Does anyone else feel this way right now? :-\ I just...it's different than a random celebrity dying, because music is so deeply personal. I feel that I *did* know JH...through music...and he knew me. Sorry for the rambling. I don't know where else to externalize it. Thanks, guys.

I've said it before in this thread, and I'll say it again:
Let's not turn a composer's death into a reason to piss all over each other's feelings.

Croweyes1121 got a reaction from Taikomochi in James Horner 1953-2015
Sigh. You know, I'm *never* "this guy", so I apologize in advance to anyone on the board if this is seen as stirring anything up...but really man, just stop. I know you're just being cheeky - possibly even trying to keep the mood up around here, I don't know you well enough to know your motives - but you're coming across (at least to me) as insensitive at best and a huge troll at worst. Now's really not the time. I don't want to get into it with you or anyone else here...but honestly, this is a man and a body of work that deserves a little respect and reverence - HERE IF ANYWHERE. I'm taking this pretty hard, as are a lot of people here. Please respect that. I, and I'm sure others, would really appreciate it, if just for one day.
EDIT: Also, I'm sorry if this was a bit of an overreaction. I was just re-reading over the thread, and you've posted some personal thoughts that have been respectful earlier on. Sorry if I pounced on the one thing I could have.

Croweyes1121 reacted to Thor in James Horner 1953-2015
It goes without saying that James Horner is one of the pillars of my film music identity -- one of the main reasons why I became interested in this weird artform in the first place. His music felt like part of my soul. So you can imagine how devastated I was when I woke up to a text message with the surreal news.
I was fortunate enough to meet him in Vienna in 2013. A humble and shy man, but not afraid to speak his mind about things he disliked with the "Hollywood machinery". A rarity.
Here's the episode/interview I did back then, for anyone interested (in English):
http://celluloidtunes.no/celluloid-tunes-08-james-horner-in-vienna-2nd-international-edition/
...and here's a personal obituary I wrote today (in Norwegian):
http://montages.no/2015/06/james-horner-1953-2015/
I miss you so much, James, and the sadness will continue to fill me for some time yet!
