  1. In actuality, there is at least another theme, used for the Tripods. You are absolutely right, they are probably a lot of sub melodies and themes/ sub themes but I like the themes to be in my face. The only one that stood out for me as a coherent theme was the last track. I'm a bit old fashion like that.
  2. I couldn't watch this film, it's too distressing to even think about what happened
  3. It's a difficult issue to tackle, modern orchestral music has come to a point that anything crazy and 'new' is welcome regardless of its musical value. People can't write anything with a coherent rhythm, harmony or melody as they will be branded 'old fashion'. Who can blame the aspired new composers for writing to what effectively is the only way for them to be accepted in the modern orchestral society? On the other hand they are some wonderful modern composers who even though their work is hard to grasp , they write through a deep thinking process and if you are determined to search through the tones of contemporary stuff you will find that there are some great pieces out there. I also think that some of the great pieces in the history of music were written for ballets and stage productions. Weren't these pieces the soundtrack music of those days? Even symphonies were written to accommodate people's emotions that's why I think some of them have such passion. Today's ballets and stage productions have shifted to the big screen. OK not all composers are great but those who were and are have produced amazing music. It's a shame that the modern orchestral world cannot accept this, they probably feel they are too 'advanced' to pay attention. But discarding melody, rhythm and harmony in the name of musical progress can only lead modern orchestral music to get it self to a dead end in my view.
  4. Yeah I agree with you, I love his older scores Even though on some of them reused the same melodies he always managed to somehow draw a new picture with the same ideas. But I have very much given up on Horner. It seems he's lost the drive to create anything exiting nowadays.
  5. Not sure of the whole list but one thing I would like to see/ hear is In to the Asteroid Field complete with the first part and the whole Adventure on Earth without the omissions, Also just a question: Does anybody know if 'Over the Moon' is published on the SS editions?
  6. There's three movies with Jar Jar, and another one with a whole bunch of Gungans. Once again, only Star Wars and ESB come out the better. Didn't really mind the Gungans (other than the leader and his really silly shake of the head at the end of every sentence) What I did mind was all the: Mui, Mui, missa Jar Jar Bings, missa stick a Thermal Detonator in my head you say?
  7. The Empire Strikes Back Revenge of the Sith Return Of the Jedi A New Hope Attack of the Clones The one with Jar Jar
  8. 1997 for me Amistad (Great themes) Seven Years in Tibet (I love this score!) The Lost World (Even though I am not crazy about it The Hunt is a great track) Rosewood (This one didn't do it for me but hey, it happens) I wanted to vote 2002 too but I like the overall body of music from the above CDs more even though I agree with Many it was a great year.
  9. Adventures on Earth and Battle in the Snow are the two most faivourite tracks for me and that just doesn't change but other than those two I am listening to Ilia's Theme and Elora Danan for the mo
  10. Wow Damo , chill dude, will use the edit function better next time (promise) Thanks it's great to be here! Been browsing for a while and it's cool to post
  11. Usually I have a normal CD player and studio monitor headphones Yamaha RH-5MA, can't live without them Sometimes I blast the CDs through my stereo but not very often. Don't like to piss the neighbours off.
  12. Haven't heard Munich yet, soooo even though I'm not crazy about it I would say 1) Revenge of the Sith 2) Geisha (again not crazy about the theme) I think I will exclude War of the Worlds, I find hard to talk about the themes of this soundtrack as IMO it has none other than the Epilogue. I love it for what it is though
  13. (19)77% Man this is crazy, 120 CDs and Vinyl not enough to make at least a 90% Williams worshiper? Oh yeah and also, how many holliday snaps with Williams cut outs on the beach? Just kidding, I think you are right Tony69, I got a couple of scores and they are sitting proudly on my collection!
