Bilbo reacted to #SnowyVernalSpringsEternal in The Amazing Spider-man 2 (2014 Film)
A dog turd, scrapped of the boots of a construction worker on dropped on the keys of a piano as a sick prank would have been a better choice then Zimmer.

Bilbo reacted to Richard Penna in Avatar 2, 3 and 4 or how James Cameron stopped worrying and pulled The Hobbit on us
Not interested. The first one underwhelmed me quite a bit.

Bilbo reacted to Trent B in Avatar 2, 3 and 4 or how James Cameron stopped worrying and pulled The Hobbit on us
Seriously?
I honestly don't think that this movie needs sequels.

Bilbo reacted to #SnowyVernalSpringsEternal in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (JJ Abrams 2015)
Alvar, all the film versions are simply adaptations, they aren't meant as an expansion of the literary universe in any way.
Nor are the films made by different filmmakers intended to be part of the same internal universe.

Bilbo reacted to mstrox in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (JJ Abrams 2015)
Definitely not new, I think that info was dropped at the European SW Celebration last year, or even before that.
The effects of this have been evident already. A number of novels have been scrapped or "indefinitely delayed," all of which would be in the timeline affected by an Episode VII/VIII/IX. The books that remain on the slate (and all of the books released since the Disney acquisition except for one) take place in "safe" time periods - during the original trilogy, prior to the prequels.

Bilbo got a reaction from Once in Sherlock (BBC)
There are too many Sherlock threads! I'm sick of having to wade through so many threads! It hurts my finger! I also want threads about certain topics that I have no interest in creating but no one else will create them either!
Ok, I'm done.

Bilbo got a reaction from Glóin the Dark in Sherlock (BBC)
Poirot and Sherlock should be kept apart at all costs!

PJ's cameo is like a Hitchcock cameo. Obvious and ment to be fun.

*Insert joke about hummed House of Durin Theme*

Bilbo got a reaction from SafeUnderHill in Sherlock (BBC)
Great episode. There was a bit in the middle where I thought it was going to fall flat on its face but it saved it self beautifully. Probably Cumberbatch's best performance as Sherlock and that's saying something.
The dubstep version of the Sherlock theme!

Bilbo reacted to Wycket in X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014 film directed by Bryan Singer)
The X-Men were made as a way for writers to express their frustration by the Comics Code Authority and the strict rules it imposed on what could and couldn't be discussed. By using "mutants" in place of a number of different oppressed groups, writers were allowed to tackle more weighty issues and instill young audiences with new ideas. This has always been the X-Men story telling by and large, and the fact that the movies follow suit is only appropriate.

Bilbo reacted to Naïve Old Fart in Should Williams overhaul the Star Wars Main Theme for the reboot?
Sorry to sound like a weiner, but I don't give a frack what JW does with the theme. I know he will compose good scores for "VII"-"IX", and I am far more interested in how he will take the "sound" of Star Wars forward, than caring about if he will overhaul existing themes.
He did a very nice variation of Luke's theme at the end of "Father/Son".

You'll have to speak up, yer boys flattened me trumpet!

Bilbo reacted to Dixon Hill in Should Williams overhaul the Star Wars Main Theme for the reboot?
Indeed. Unjustified choral elements are perhaps the quickest way to cringey scoring.
Re-record the original setting of the opening crawl. Let the rest of the score be new and shiny.

Eh, I don't see the need.

Bilbo reacted to #SnowyVernalSpringsEternal in Sherlock (BBC)
According to Sherlock's explanation, the entire street was blocked of and all the bystanders were either a part of Mycrofts men or the homeless network.
The whole scene of Anderson not buying Sherlock's explanation is basically foreshadowing your EXACT behavior right now.
Of the three solutions given, the first two don't match visually with what we saw two years ago. In both cases a bungee cord was visible, we know it was never a dummy that fell etc etc...and they were clearly written to wind the audience up. The solution Sherlock gives is the only one that matches what we know and saw in The Reichenbach Fall

It really grew on me!
I think the Star Wars Main Titles is probably the one piece of music that I can never and will never tire of.

I see alcohol is available in Canada, too
And, btw, if you really can't spot Beorn's theme, not even once amongst the gazillion times it plays on the OST, and with Doug's booklet, I'm afraid you're not suitable for spotting themes at all. Does it really have to be Remote Control level stupidly obvious?

Bilbo reacted to Incanus in Howard Shore's The Desolation Of Smaug (Hobbit Part 2)
You guys crack me.
If themes for Beorn, Mirkwood, Lake-town or anything in this score do not float your boat, that is fine. I am not sure why do you have to keep harping people about liking them when you do not. And for the record I do prefer the more hummable themes from this score as well but I also like these smaller motifs quite a lot despite them being less memorable than the bigger ones.

Bilbo reacted to Jay in The Themes of Howard Shore's The Hobbit
Because this has a main post full of information that needs to remain as a main post.
If you'd like to discuss it further please do so somewhere else, let's keep this thread clean please, just for discussing the themes of the score, thank you.

Bilbo reacted to Jay in The 6th Annual JWFan Awards - The Best Scores and Films of 2013
Yup, I agree with that. And there were other scenes that didn't need any music at all, but had it.
But beyond all that, the music itself was bland and uninteresting at it's best, and loud and obnoxious at its worst
