Yeah. It was obvious to me that Bilbo refrained from telling Thorin because he was apparently getting corrupted.
I think Bilbo took the Arkenstone, but is hiding it till the neccessary time.

Did you even watch the film? Because Smaug told him (Bilbo) that it would corrupt Thorin.

God forbid we give the characters a bit more depth by including a short scene taken from the appendices.

I can't get behind this business about The Hobbit films having minimal parts that are merely 'almost on par' with what we saw in LOTR. I just don't consider the difference to be that vast, or almost EVERY scene in LOTR to be superior to those in The Hobbit films. Is LOTR at its best better? Yes, but this has much to do with the source material being better. Is The Hobbit trilogy at its worst worse? Yes, because of the insipid Tauriel/Kili bollocks. But that doesn't mean I haven't found plenty to enjoy in these Hobbit films so far. Nor have I considered large parts to be obviously inferior to the LOTR films.

Some of the discussion confirms my suspicion that some people don't like Tolkien movie discussion here period, not because it distracts from JW discussion, which it can't anymore anyway.

And that it had Shore's recognisable and tender orchestration, the Hobbity instrumentation, a main theme from the film as the refrain, lyrics that aren't emo, and not to mention a wonderful intro before it.

I am hoping for a longer docu on the score for DoS EE next year and even a longer one for the eventual TABA EE.

Our talk lasted a little over an hour, I think. I'm told that they'd like to use more of it elsewhere, so we'll see.

I think every score (excluding the incredibly bland Hooper scores) has something to offer. Goblet of Fire has many great melodramatic moments, despite abandoning most of the previous themes. The Deathly Hallows Part 1 has a handful of cool, Williams-like action set pieces and The Deathly Hallows Part 2 also has the same set pieces with more respect to thematic continuity. Goblet of Fire and the two Deathly Hallows scores would be great as stand-alone scores but in the context of the franchise they are only pretty good.
