The original Planet of the Apes.
 
First time watching it. It’s really really good and deserving of its classic status really. 
 
Not a lover of Goldsmith’s score though. A composer I can rarely enjoy for whatever reason. That sounds like heresy but it’s the truth. 
 
A pity the sequels are supposed to be awful because there’s great potential to expand on the original story.

A Knight's Tale (2001)
 
Wildly entertaining flick that still holds up 20+ years later. An all-time favourite. Carter Burwell's score is merely serviceable, but let's face it, it's the rock classics that make the real score. Highly recommended.
 

The awful performance is what makes it Hogwarts. 

Yeah I know. And it was the right call, tie-in covers are hideous. I hate the tie-in covers for Lord of the Rings (the Rings of Power ones are especially objectionable). But who knows? Times change. At a minimum, I think each book will have a new edition to correspond with the current season, even if it's not a tie-in.
 
I do admire how protective she is of her literary creation, and how she keeps the books a separate thing from the films.

The deal was only agreed very recently. They wouldn’t have any imagery to pull on aside from what already exists. I wouldn’t take it as a guarantee that they’ll keep the castle and the music the same. 
 
The Harry Potter font pre-dates the movies though so that will stay the same. 

I see Star Wars fans mentioning Campbell all the time and it’s clear that none of them have tried to read his works. They’re a massive slog and not these storytelling bibles that Twitter fans make them out to be.

this is funny to me (as someone with a stake on this, unlike almost everyone on the thread) because i just happen to not give her money at all for anything because there's nothing to give her money about.
 
i find "dramatic allies" very annoying, and sometimes they're the ones who backstab you.
 
they're also the ones who fell for things such as wearing harry potter tattoos for some reason. most of them don't read contemporary fantasy anyways (for adults instead of for kids).

On not wanting to give Rowling any money due to her *toxic* beliefs ... I'm reminded of her response to the guy on Twitter who said (after she criticised Mike Pence) that he was going to burn his Potter books and DVDs. She told him to go ahead because she'd already got his money, and to make sure he breathed in the fumes/smoke while the DVD covers were burning  .

ideally they would just commit to a single animated season, or a pilot, and then they would see.
 
I would say the small stuff matters (i have been mocked over stating this on this message board lol). I think it's good she has the final say! (i consider that so-called "copyright" should be nontransferable and unable to be held by corporations. at most, you get permission. i'm not sure how it would apply to collective works the size of movies).
 
maybe because i try to have some principles, which is a constant struggle. i know or try to know where people can have a say and where they don't.

This isn't an HBO show, this is a Max show. HBO and Max are both owned by WB Discovery, and HBO content is on the Max app, but they are different things. 
 
If you have cable and the HBO channel, you cannot see this show. It is exclusive to the Max streaming service. 
 
The guys running Max's original content division are not the guys that have been making prestige television at HBO for decades.

Wrap up the storyline? 😂 oh my sweet summer child that is beyond impossible at this stage. The whole thing is too big and spread too far. If anything he’ll release it and there’ll be a dozen new subplots included!!

I'd say we're a couple years from seeing this, at least. And I imagine casting the child leads will be one of the last things they do.

for the record, i don't like them, and i think whatever is cool in TLJ in isolation is really hurt by being sandwiched in there.
 
then again, i also don't like Return of the Jedi.
