  1. Well at looks as thought John Williams is performing tonight. http://www.mugglenet.com/ Live stream begins at 9 (hopefully the rain stops).
  2. Well I can't say I've been here that long, but it has been a while. Obviously I'm much more of a lurker, but I tend to get most of my film score news from here. Of course, thanks to this site I can keep up to date with John Williams releases.
  3. Nice breakdown. I recently ordered Guide for the Married Man and Black Sunday (since I hadn't already). Didn't know Cinderella Liberty was low in stock, looks like that's where my next paycheck is headed. Thanks for the heads up.
  4. I actually gave it a 4.5. I haven't sat down and listened to an expanded release, but I'm surprised by how well the OST was put together. Aside from the final track that really does nothing for me, it's a great musical adventure, even if it isn't the most original.
  5. Here's an interesting interview with Gary Kurtz, done at IGN back in 2002. http://movies.ign.com/articles/376/376873p1.html It's well worth to read, and he goes on to say that in an original outline of Jedi, Han was supposed to die.
  6. I actually got this one at a young age, so it's a disc I've grown up with. The standout for me is Here They Come as I prefer the slower tempo. The OST always felt rushed in comparison and this one packs a little more punch.
  7. Any chance you can elaborate on the footage, as well as the quality of the 3D in comparison with the 3D movies released thus far?
  8. I voted for probably not, but that really all depends if a different score would've taken Munich's place. If that's the case, the votes would've been split anyway, just for another score.
  9. Blast beats. Fortunately it's not featured too prominently in film scores. In other types of music . . .
  10. A filmmaker that owned the 80s. Shame he left the game, but he will be missed. RIP
  11. Picked up the series in BR (too bad I don't have an HDTV). Haven't had a chance to watched the extended episodes in Season 4. My BSG: Season 4 as well as Caprica scores arrived yesterday. I haven't really dived into Caprica yet. Loving the hell out of Season 4 though.
  12. Dude, quit forcing your opinion on everybody. Seriously though, I'm holding out for JW. It doesn't seem likely in my book but like the above poster stated, any new work of Williams is welcomed on this end.
  13. Do you know if this is for online purchases only, or could I pick this up in stores on Tuesday and still get the free download? I don't really know, but since it lists the features as "enhanced CD" on the back cover, I guess it's the standard condition. I doubt they would print extra covers for online retailers only Well I just got home from work and after looking at a physical copy we had in the back, I can confirm that every CD will have a free 5.1 download. Thanks Paleo for bring that to my attention. You saved me some cash and the wait.

  15. Not sure if it's been posted (chalk it up to me being too lazy to look through six measly pages) but if you purchase the album through the WB site . . . http://www.wbshop.com/on/demandware.store/...p;adid=HPCATEml . . . you'll receive a free download of the score in 5.1. Interesting. I rather enjoyed OotP (more than Goblet anyway) so I'll probably go for the purchase.
  16. Whoa, sorry Josh500, didn't mean for you to get the brunt of all that. Ironically enough, the South Park episode where Indy is raped is on. Nice. Anyway, folks feel the need to say "in my opinion" on message boards and for the most part I think that's implied, so when I say that I think Spielberg realizes he missed the mark . . . I don't know the guy. It's an assumption. And yes, I do know what happens when you assume, so let's let it slide for the conversation, shall we? When you talk to people about a movie, there's that popular opinion you have to get through first. Let's take Star Trek for example. The majority of people like that movie. When you talk about it, you get this vibe that you're starting from a positive standpoint. If you really have anything negative to say, you really have to back up your claim. There are those who didn't enjoy that movie and they really have to explain themselves for it. The same goes for Crystal Skull. Now, it wasn't bashed by critics but I feel the majority of people know that movie isn't as good as the others. I'm a huge fan of the films, I enjoyed Crystal Skull but it certainly wasn't up to par with the previous films. When someone talks about enjoying that movie, they really have to explain themselves. Plain and simple, the majority of people I've spoken to about the movie found it to be the least of the saga (and that is really saying the least). As far as Speilberg, well, he thinks Harrison looked the same as he did in Crusade, so who knows what's going on in his head. After all, he doesn't like Temple of Doom and I love it, so there ya go. But Crystal Skull is a flick where I think it's safe to turn to a complete stranger, say "What the hell was that?" and you'll find that stranger nodding in agreement. That's certainly the vibe I got leaving the theater during that midnight show (the lack of grand applause was a clue). When it came to Temple of Doom, to me it seems like he really wanted to redeem himself with Crusade. After watching Crystal Skull, I could only hope he would want to redeem himself with a solid entry in a big bad way.
  17. I voted yes. I think there were some interesting ideas going on in Crystal Skull, and I also think Spielberg realizes how much he missed the mark and is eager to redeem the series. Get a better screenwriter, concentrate more on the characters and nail the cinematography this time. Of course by biggest worry is doing this in time to get Williams back.
  18. Score 5/5 Film 4.5/5 Willie's Theme Ya know, I never came to appreciate Doom until the flicks were released on DVD, and I sat down and watched it and was blown away. I give it a lot of credit for truly creating another adventure, not just a carbon copy of the first or something not as good. It's different, but it's still Indy and it's really the only other movie in the series that held true to its roots as far as I'm concerned. Not to mention it has balls. As a kid, the whole thing was scary and perhaps the kid in me really digs this "Indy goes to Hell and fights back" angle of it. It's not perfect, as Willie does grate on the nerves. She doesn't bother me as much as some folks, because they are after all making fun of the typical female sidekick, but I think perhaps they did too good a job in that department. Besides, freeing slaves is the most selfless thing we've seen Indy do in any of the movies. That makes the ending very satisfying. It's a darker, action-packed Indy adventure and it's got one hell of a score. What a ride!
  19. I enjoyed SC plenty but I think it's fair to say I like this album more. The only song I'm not into is The Count of Tuscany, and that sucks because it's 20 minutes long (I do like the last 9 or so minutes of it though)! Shattered Fortress is one I'm looking forward to seeing live, you know the audience will go nuts. The Best of Times is one of DT's greatest and most emotional tracks IMO. My favorite since Octavarium. Glad to hear you're diggin' it though. The last movie I saw was Terminator Salvation and while I enjoyed it, and the action sequences were pretty great, you don't really give a shit about any of the characters, especially John Connor. Ah well. Worth it just to hear the audience cheer for the "cameo."
  20. Did you say horror comedy?? Very much in line with the Evil Dead flicks from what I hear (although they're not really marketing it that way). I'm looking forward to catching it tomorrow evening. Also, just curious if you've listened to the new DT album yet, or if you're waiting for the "release."
  21. Sure thing, just give me a few minutes.
  22. Correct. It's both DVDs and CDs, along with some pictures and film cells.
  23. . . . I picked this up at BJs for $17.99. http://www.amazon.com/Jurassic-Park-World-...2411&sr=8-8 So if any of you are missing a score, or just interested in the set and have a BJs close by, it's worth a look. I actually lost both scores some time ago and just never got around to picking them up until today.
