  1. This music is just insanely good - really really hard to transcibe, I had hoped on doing the whole a section but am totally swamped with writing for my show so here it is! If anyone wants the finale file to complete it let me know via PM. It would be cool if someone could demo it up with Sonic Implants or something. PS how is everyone? I don't visit as often now. OmahaBeach_V3.pdf
  2. The beethoven 9 recording on this soundtrack, is this from an album or just a partial record? I want the whole thing but cannot find it. Anyone have any info? PS never have seeen the movie would it be upsetting to someone who gets upset with the modern beethoven school??
  3. Are these going to be more in the fashion of the Special Edition Phantom Menace? I think that is a great unedited album
  4. Can you compare it to my score I transcribed? There is a thread for it somewhere in the archives. Ray I want more info.
  5. Ah, point made I have given this thought in the past and for JW in terms of collaboration, performance, musical awareness, lack of sour notes, and sheer virtuosity I vote: 1) Jurassic Park (Only two wrong notes do I hear in this score) 2) Phantom Menace
  6. Whats the deal is this around? Can i get it?
  7. Ill proofread for you, mp3 and PDF please?
  8. Just did like 8 Bars of Omaha Beach, this is really hard to get. There is so much glue orchestrationally and acoustically, the hall is so good it is adding overtones that I don't think exist. like the first chord, the overtone F below middle C is sounding but I don't think anyone is playing above the D below that. Also the contrabass section is panned down the middle which takes up a lot of real estate to listen to. Amazing writing though. This will be somewhat guess work - great training for composers. To notate a gliss just draw a line from the first note to the last and write "gliss" beside it, or "white key gliss" or "black key gliss" sometimes put an arrow to show the direction, up vs down.
  9. he obviously wants to Transcribe!!! music from a recording.. not arrange it in put it into to a sample orchestra version based on a piano reduction! So this is going to be difficult since there is no recording of the Celebration fanfare which he could transcribe! But, there is a piano reduction he can orchestra. I am going to do Omaha beach first two minutes
  10. Thanks Ray, Getting closer to the sheet music one I want Can I send you some PDF sheet music and you can make something really clever? Someone make something up and I will provide the image/sheet music Caption This: "darth vader's theme"
  11. seconded someone PM it to me please and if I like it I will do it, also looking for the John Williams Logo for whatever movie company he did it for.
  12. I can do the John Williams Dreamworks logo - does someone have that audio?
  13. Its about time for my semi annual transcription (writing down of orchestral sheet music). Anything we are missing from JW? I like it to be rather short usually. Saturday Nite Football was perfect.
  14. Can you make one that is concert score y? Sheet music ish star wars maybe? Or something funny
  15. Someone make something good, put it on Razzle and I will buy it. Either conducting or handwriting sheet music or something funny etc...
  16. Anyone see any cool John williams shirts (funny, cool, or whatever....) I am ready to take my obsession to the next level
  17. I like them. The alternates, like he did for NBC news
  18. If you think this is a bad score you need to get your hearing fixed. It takes maturity to understand this music and subject matter. Omaha Beach is an absolutely perfect track. For me this is in the top ten of all time scored scenes, he hit it right on the head. Also stealing from Nimrod a bit. blah

  21. I think GOF is one of the worst scores for a major movie i have ever heard, no exagerattion. And I am a fan of Doyle's other works.
  22. I have walked around Manhattan and seen guys selling bootlegs, and I have called the no piracy hotline to report them.
  23. In most european orchestras strings still are made of gut wire not steel, this gives them a different, very un Hollywood sound - but yet allows them to play Rachmaninoff, and Tchaikovsky well. Also European orchestras, and certain American ones, I know Emanual Ax as soloist, tunes to A = 441. My opinion is if I want to listen to something brilliant I get an American Orchestra, for Rach and Tchiak I stick to Russian Orchestra (Michael Pletnev) but I find the certain American orchestras to be way superior especially in the Brass and in overall virtuosity. The Boston Symphony at Symphony hall, it doesn't get much finer than that. Perhaps only trumped by the Chicago Symphony. Other then that I hold the LA Phil, NY Phil and LSO on par with each other - they are also the best sight readers. The Academy in the Fields easily provides the best chamber music recordings, they are stunning really. For moody recordings I like Berlin Phil, and the Moscow Symphony with Pletnev are stunning (although very speedy tempo wise). I feel like for Choral Pieces I still prefer the old Euro recordings with the usual suspects (Bach Mozart and Beethoven Masses, cantatas) Interpretations are open to opinion, but quality - well there is nothing lacking over here in the USA.
  24. Listen to the album "Summon The Heroes" and then tell me the USA orchestra stink. No Euro orchestra would have got this much soul out of the tunes. Listen to the Brass! I mean come on, i just couldn't disagree more with this thread.
  25. Stylus RMX - especially the expansion Liquid Grooves
