anything I choose to listen to is either film music or classical, so thus all my albums are either film music or classical. however, since I cannot drive and my parents like popular music, thats what I end up having to listen to on short trips in the car.

When The Score Is Used As A Selling Point For A Movie
futuremartymcfly replied to APBez's topic in General Discussion
It's different, but he's still one of the greats. yes, I own I guess a 1/200th of his scores and there both brilliant, even though GBU falls asleep sometimes. -

yes, and I doubt we'll see Williams in a disney film any time soon. I wonder if disney's ever considered him though -

I've been trying to get into Hermann, but of the three scores of his I have, only one, Psycho, works for me, the other two, North by Northwest and Citizen Kane, are a little bland for me.

Pirates of the Caribbean 2 score news

Williams scoring a POTC movie would be interesting, but I think it would be a little late at this point. Also, I doubt Jerry Bruckheimer or Verbinski appreciates Williams' style, and he might suffer from his first rejected score, considering their tastes. -
What is the last score you listened to?
futuremartymcfly replied to HPFAN_2's topic in General Discussion
The Omen- I've probably listened to cues from this score more then any other score right now, it has certainly elevated my opinion of Jerry Goldsmith. Misison Impossible 3- really the best parts of this score are the integrations of the Mission Impossible themes, haven't really been able to sit through the rest. The Mission- I just put this one in my computer for the first time, and it really is amazing -
What is the Last Film You Watched? - Part II

Poseidon, I don't really see why the critics hated this so much, sure there wasn't that much character development, and some of the performances where a tad stale, but it was really a tense, edge-of-your-seat thriller with incredible special effects. -

Verbinski clearly isn't too knowlegable in Zimmer's other works. Instead of a pirate score, he is getting a mundane action score. -
What piece did Horner rip off in Honey I Shrunk the Kids?
futuremartymcfly replied to King Mark's topic in General Discussion
Horner did Honey I shrunk the kids? wow, he has done tons of movies of that sort -
Are we score lovers fundamentally movie lovers or...
futuremartymcfly replied to Quintus's topic in General Discussion
I probably wouldn't haven't gotten into film scores were it not for the fact I loved Jurassic Park when I was younger, but from there film music took over films in general. Its like the chicken and the egg, the Chicken comes out of the egg, but is overall more powerful then the egg. -

he's done somewhere around a couple hundred films right? -
Its everywhere in Troy, where it only has a tad bit of adjustments made. But I haven't heard it in Titanic either.

no, I meant the people who work for the radio station that counted up the votes, how did they accidentally let Last Samurai have two places, its pretty clear the people voting were doing so off the top of their heads -
Happy Birthday, Sir Elgar!
futuremartymcfly replied to RomanticStrings's topic in General Discussion
who in the world is Elgar? -
or not yet enough scores to make him so. his only truly breathtaking score, IMO, was cutthroat Island, the rest has been pretty generic. However, scoring so many films is pretty impressive, just wish he could focus his talent on one score at a time.

MV with an X factor? lol, jk I don't know, haven't heard the X-Men III score yet

I felt that the destruction at the Quidditch Game felt more like a Klan parade of destruction, but are the death eaters really supposed to look like the KKK? -

the question is not why, but how did the people who tallied the results make such an error, I wonder if Zimmer's score would have been higher if it was listed only once. -
