  1. never seen any of them... aren't many concerts in Florida
  2. which after listening to a few times, is no longer as exciting as it initially sounded...
  3. It seems more like the golden era of Goldsmith and Williams
  4. Jaws Raiders Omen, For its purpose: Alien I don't see whats so great about PotA, CE3K wins
  5. well, the good news is, we should be able to expect more of Williams' themes, or the bad news is Hedwigs theme could be overused
  6. to me, it actually sounds like a theme that is heard everywhere in Epcot, WDW.
  7. oops, I voted on which score was the best, I haven't seen all three films though.
  8. the only classic themes that I now find amusing are the GBU theme and the Space Odyssey theme
  9. 2001: A Space Odyssey, well, lets just say I don't get it. How is this a masterpiece, why were we looking at monkeys, what was the deal with that baby, and What was Stanley thinking putting the Blue Danube in the movie. Who can take something that uses the Blue Danube seriously?
  10. when Alien appears on Sigmourney Weaver's ship When some old guy in 2001:Space Oddyssey turns into a baby and the Also Spach Tathurstra theme plays (the whole ending of that movie is I don't know... lol)
  11. but wouldn't that have to be the last random poll? because what would be the point of doing the best poll poll, if he was just going to do another one that might or might not be the best?
  12. oh well, thats right, hmm, well lets hope this tv director can do something special.
  13. well, the Harry Potter series seems to be going rapidly downhill now, I'm sure this will follow the replace-Williams curse, I think, let me think of a few more franchises before calling it that...
  14. when I first saw this I was expecting a poll of which random pi poll was the best
  15. small margin, but really Williams is just plain old lucky. He found the right people at the right time, and is thus very popular. I think Goldsmith could have written something just as good for star wars and Indiana Jones. However I must admit I only have Goldsmith's patton, and his fronteirs compilation album
  16. easily Superman, its just well...umm... better
  17. has John Williams every really done a spy/espionage movie other then minority report? I think that would be an interesting genre for him to tackle
  18. yay, according to dictionary definitions I'm neither, lol, I'm not socially inept. but I have had dreams where my cds play a big part. I had a dream that I was on the Norstomo with Alien on it, and so I left, but I accidently left all my cds on the ship with Alien, so I had to go back and get them, and when I returned there were many aliens on the ship, and it was a very tense few dream minutes as a I searched for my cds, lol.
  19. geek i think is someone who is an enthusiast or knows alot in a weird subject, and a nerd is someone who is like really good and really loves school work, I think. Don't know the actualy definitions, but either way I'm technically classified as both, but consider myself neither. IMO, only people with winy voices, broken glasses, wheres bowties with plad shirts, and has toilet paper coming from the bottom of their shoes can be classified as a geek or nerd.
  20. Then you should scroll it back a year, since The Adventures of Robin Hood was released in 1938. Wonderful album, Cerrabore. I agree, this was the greatest era for film music. The late '70s/early '80s run it a close second, but there were simply too many great composers in the '30s and '40s operating at the peak of their ability. That's not to say Williams and Goldsmith weren't (aren't?) titans. Just felt the need to stink up this thread with unnecessary fuddy-duddyisms. So Korngold seemes to be the REALLY really big one of that era though, so I'll probably look into him.
  21. You mean there are people in this world who haven't heard the Jaws Theme?
  22. I'm wondering, are the seven recognized Jaws, Star Wars, ET, Psycho, The Godfather, Gone With the Wind, and either Ben Hur or The Maginificent Seven?
  23. I think the old versions coming in September are going to include both versions
