  1. of what you have listed Far and Away is probably what i would have chosen, but stefan and mark are right either of the two compilations are good ways to go.
  2. i'll agree with stefan, over the moon is the best John Williams piano arrangement available, but i wouldn't mind an arrangment to the Munich end credits
  3. in my opinion John williams is probably the best composer alive that we have heard of. There has to be someone out there who is classically trained that just doesn't get heard. I mean theres always someone better. Also if you look at the composers who are considered to be the best there all listed as classical: Bernard Herman(n), Alfred Newman, Korngold, Steiner, and the classical era composers. But then as classical lost its popularity and became..unusual, film music basically took its place.
  4. Brokeback will likely win, way too much much hype surrounding it. That hype might go against it, however, and the dark horse candidate Crash may win. I haven't seen any of the best picture nominees, but i am rooting against the director of HULK
  5. well, even without empire theres still foUr scores left from the latter half of Williams miraculous nine year run
  6. I agree also, Disc 2 is where most of the real good music is.
  7. Schindler's List does have it brighter moments (or moment) but i would have to say its not the type of score i listen too unless i'm working or putting most of my attention on something else, basically it works just as well as classical music for me
  8. what was wrong with track three?? I know why two, it is so annoyning, but why three?
  9. Yikes, my one vote for a score i didn't know did nothing
  10. it looks like you have a few of John William's older classics E.T shouldn't be hard to find, same with Jaws, Jurassic Park, Indy 3, and Close Encounters, all of which are awesome scores. Unfortanetly IMHO his best score Raiders is really rare. Same with Fury and TOD
  11. Main Title composed by J,J, Abrams?? is that just the sound effect played when LOST it put forth on screen??
  12. Doyle got five stars for the actual quality of the ablum, wich is nuts in and of itself, but for the music in the film, which considers continuity, it got three or four stars, bringing the average to four.
  13. I liked his scoring geisha over potter. I thought it was a nice turn of style, but now that he skipped one potter, i definitely would like another William's score to the seiries.
  14. thats exactly the problem i have with him. He gave lengend of Zorro five stars, even though there wasn't much new material, and Mask of Zorro four stars. But earlier for COS it was given four stars four lack of fresh material, and POA was given four stars because it didn't bring much of the old themes back!, only to give Doyles score the same rating.
  15. until there are only scores i have heard of i'll keep voting with the majority to keep ESB alive.
  16. I was probably around four when I started to notice the Jurassic Park music, which also happened to be my favorite movie at the time. I didn't get the CD though until i was ten, and thats when I realized Jaws, Harry Potter, Star War, and Indian Jones were composed by the same person.
  17. MOAG, for me it measures almost as high as Schindler's List
  18. well, it looks like my computered worked too late. Now all of the people who voted for Jurassic Park will join with the people who voted for the Lost World
  19. I would vote The phantom Menace off, and break the current tie, but its not letting me vote
  20. I just got the fury this christmas and it definitely has become one of my new favorite scores
  21. I have to say Titanic, its one of Horner's freshest and most interesting scores, with the exclusion of the song at the end.
  22. I haven't heard of We're looking Good, when did Williams write that one?
  23. I have to agree with Salacius, Summon the Heroes is one of Williams' best non-film works
  24. home alone 2, its very trite and most of it is only listenable during the holidays
