I personally really like Horner's new theme, its sounds slightly familiar, but fresh at the same time. I'm sure, however, this theme's going to pop up in future scores.

I'm personally not one of the big Hermann fans on the board, and of all the Herman scores I have, this is my least favorite, some of the music tends to irritate me.

for the score as a whole, Jaws, I think more people are going to remember its effect in the film alot more then people are going to remember how Star Wars supplemented the film.

Yep, Disney really likes using John Williams themes in the Soarin Que, it was quite a shock though when I first heard the E.T. end credits, suprising because I wonder how they got the rights to use a Universal theme. You wouldn't happen to know all the songs they use in the Soarin que line would you, at WDW? I've already for sure heard The Land Race, Flying from Hook, the Aforementioned ET, the Theme from Contact, and a cue clearly in Goldsmith's style.

I must offer another point of view however. What are the chances that Debney had heard all the other scores and bothered to figure out the chord progressions and use almost hte same melody? What are the chances that most composers we accuse of plagiarism actually commit plagiarism? I would like to offer the theory (which many people seem to forget) that they independently came upon the same idea! WHOA! Yep that's right, they independently came up of the same idea. What are the chances that Debney listens to every single score by everyone else? very few. its just most of tonal music has 7 notes, and there are only so many permutations of them. if you plan to end on a dominant tonic relation, then chances are your melody ends with leading tone-tonic. etcetc. What is the proof? For one thing, Polar Express (2004) was written AFTER elf (2003). So shouldn't we be arguing that Alan Silvestri copied Debney? oops, I guess it was the delayed DVD of holiday releases, and in that case the Elf and PE example is mixed up, lol.

his cutthroat island was amazing, but nothing of his has really interested me. Yeah he does plagiarize alot off the top of my head I can say Elf sounds alot like the Polar Express, and Zathura sounds like Hook.

for efficiency purposes I would say the computer having everything nice looking, My music theory teacher once made me rewrite a composition five times until it looked nice enough. However, for actualy musical quality just sitting their by the piano would be the best.

the only time I found MV useful is when watching a sports match, its the only thing that it adds intensity to, mainly because your not paying enough attention to the music.
