Great interview, Maurizio! There was a little bit of talk regarding Eiger Sanction, hopefully that one is on its way soon, one of the few remaining gaps in my JW collection.

Dr. Rick reacted to crumbs in Remasters of the First 6 Star Wars Soundtracks now available (Shawn Murphy / Disney Records 2018)
You made me curious to research more about how tape transfers (specifically multi-tracks) function and found a few interesting videos on the subject. These appear to be 2" multi-track transfers:
And a video on the format itself for anyone curious:
Can anyone recommend articles specific to film score transfers and restoring old tapes? I assume most restoration is handled digitally now (presumably once the physical tapes are damaged there's not much you can do).
When Mike refers to old tapes in poor condition with warbly sound (due to tape deterioration/damage) I'm assuming they still run through this transfer process and record everything, complete with audio defects (in the same way vinyl recordings include crackling). How is this process different to early digital recordings like TOD? Clearly they don't deteriorate the same way that analogue tapes do, but clearly they aren't just digital files that can be copied to Windows 10 on a USB stick.
It'd be cool if one of the labels did a featurette on the restoration process sometime. Everything from finding the tapes, baking them (to reduce moisture?), transferring them, then restoring. It's one of the most interesting parts of expansions (to me, anyway).
