I was perusing around my Roku player looking up JW-scored movies and I figured I would put a handy list together for everyone.  I've "cut the cord" about a year ago and have switched to streaming services to save money.  I've saved about $800 or so over a year's time compared to previous traditional cable provider.  This has been a great way for me to discover new movies I've never seen or re-watch some old favorites.

Disclaimer:  I only went back to about 1970, so if there's anything from earlier feel free to chime in.  Movies that are not listed below are all for rent / buy as well.  There are even a couple of instances of a movie being on several streaming platforms at the same time.

My comment was regarding the "year for the books" post back in February and not the concert programme notes.

Truth be told, the Universal Heritage Collection was supposed to kick off with Sugarland Express, but after careful consideration the project was dropped at the request of the composer. Bummer too, because it was pretty darn awesome!

    Perhaps one day...

La-La Land Records, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Warner Music Group and DC Entertainment proudly continue Superman’s 80th Anniversary Celebration with a 3-CD re-issue of the original motion picture scores to the 1980 feature film, SUPERMAN II and the 1983 feature film SUPERMAN III, both starring Christopher Reeve and directed by Richard Lester. Renowned composer Ken Thorne (Academy Award winner for A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM) keeps the Man of Steel flying high with two stupendous orchestral scores that incorporate John Williams’ original material with maximum emotional power. Both film scores utilize the same stellar master as the 2008 “Superman: The Music” box set from FSM, assembled here across 3-CDs. Disc 2 presents a collection of source music and songs from the first three Superman films composed by John Williams, Ken Thorne and Giorgio Moroder, including some previously unreleased tracks. Produced by Mike Matessino and mastered by Doug Schwartz, this set offers a 44-page booklet with in-depth liner notes by Matessino, Jeff Eldridge and associate producer Lukas Kendall, updated from the FSM Superman box set for this 3-disc reissue. Hi All!

Last Friday was so enjoyable and thank you for being such a wonderful bunch. Sorry I didn’t get speaking with all of you and it was great to finally meet Miguel Andrade (the JWFan Yoda!)

Putting names to faces is always a pleasure, sorry I missed Quint and Richard though. Most others are on Facebook with me so you were easily spotted :-)

The Gore Hotel was actually a suggestion by the Bernard Herrmann Society and I thought it would be good for our 2 groups to collide. Ironically, they didn’t come to the concert in the end as some members pulled out.

Rodney Newton reminiscing about attending the early 80s LSO sessions and speaking about  JW’s personal life was a highlight, but obviously Mike pulling back the curtains of what he does was always the point of this and big thanks to him once again for doing it.

We spent that morning recording an interview before heading over to NBC, so he was already talked out! Links to the 3 part interview will be on the main JWFan page soon by the way.

The concert had a marvellous atmosphere and other than the too slow tempos of CE3K and Dracula (in my opinion!) it was first class.

    All the best!

    Tim

To clarify about Dracula, he said Universal Studios' documentation merely said the tapes were at an "undisclosed location". Mike knew that this would mean it was another Universal related property, as if they completely left Universal, it would be heavily documented and perhaps tracked down if not returned. But he realized a likely candidate was Universal Mastering, which Varese used for mastering frequently back around the timeframe that the mono rumors first started. So he inquired there and realized the tapes were there, but had gone back to Varese after instead of back to Universal Studios. So he went to Varese and found them and played them himself and voila, 1/2" stereo masters.

Apologies if I got any details wrong, someone can correct me.

I assumed Mike referred to the timeframe when both were working at Fox under Lionel Newman (mid-to-late 1960s/early 1970s), as he specifically recalled that magical period when there were so many talents working under the same roof (he also mentioned Sandy Courage and Herb Spencer). Once they went freelancing and became more and more famous respectively, they probably became more private.

He actually threw more than a hint, imho. When he was asked about doing Star Wars, he replied "Given what happened in the last few years... What do you think?" and gave a nice smile. I think that was very eloquent
