  1. Oye...don't mock the trek. Besides, oneliners are a staple of American culture and films. What, you don't like Americans!?
  2. Thanks for letting me know - I never would have known the trailer was being discussed there (from the thread title).
  3. Lookin' good I gotta say, just wish there was more news on the score.
  4. I quite like it - it reminds me of the type of score that got me into soundtracks and classical music in general when I was a wee lad. Then again, I've always been partial to swashbuckling scores so there's no surprise there.
  5. Sweet! Very interesting to see you playing these arrangements as I've become quite familiar with the mp3s you posted.
  6. I know this has probably been posted before, but it's still a great clip nonetheless: John Williams conducting 'Summon the Heroes' for Olympics '96 in Atlanta
  7. Sweet Jesus, I hope J.J. Abrahms doesn't follow suite and end the new flick with some pooty pop/R&B song. Sweet Jesus, I hope J.J. Abrahms doesn't follow suite and end the new flick with some pooty pop/R&B song. What the hell? "Pooty"?? Since when did the censoring of naughty words start around here?
  8. Good grief, I don't know what to make of many of the assessments I've read in this thread, so instead I'll just post a picture of Picard and keep my mouth shut.
  9. That guy's got some mad skills! His other videos are quite good too.
  10. I'm so going to this concert. I thought it was quite insightful, actually. Especially his expansion upon what sets the LSO apart from other orchestras (he's bang on about the wind tradition here in Britain).
  11. People dislike Gaeta? Meh, I think he (along with Baltar) are the two most interesting characters on the show. If you want to talk about annoying, how about Roslyn as of late (not to mention the "relationship" she has with Adama...blarrgh!)? I get the feeling sometimes that her character was intentionally made to be annoying. Although now that she's donned her wig and ditched the bald cap (along with all the dopeyness associated with that part of her character), I might start to like her again. The scene with her and Baltar discussing his motivations for getting off Galactica is a return to form, in my opinion.
  12. It may be cliche, but it's obviously the Flying Theme. As a kid I would wait patiently through the movie for both Flying sequences - mainly for the music (and how it works in both scenes).
  13. Some of you may not think that HZ can write a good melody, but he sure knows that video killed the radio star.
  14. Marc, I know you've probably already been asked this question before, but have you ever considered sending these recordings to John Williams himself?
  15. Dude, you totally didn't have the poll initially! Though my answer still stands.
  16. If fantasy is defined as unrestrained imagination, which thereby would indicate that any fantastic materials don't actually exist, then obviously one would prefer the tangible material that technology provides since material from fantasy doesn't actually exist. Of course, this all presupposes you're not talking about material in the ethereal sense - in which case, one would always prefer the material from fantasy as it usually fulfills their desires. Wait, what?
  17. I think this is a smashing idea - and if all the players were up to Marc's standard, I would even pay hard cash to see it live!
  18. But that only happens on every seventh post If anything drives the ladies away on these boards, it must be all the Trek talk that occurs quite frequently. Does that constitute a joke? No joke, just a sad sad reality. Then again, I would rather revel in my Trek fandom than debase myself by engaging in any of the many puerile popular pursuits out there. Although as Mark Olivarez hinted to in another thread, it sometimes helps to at least pretend that you're interested in something (however idiotic it may be) just so you can strike up conversations with people.

  20. Oh come on, it's not THAT bad. I rather enjoy the topic matter - but then again, I tend to like historical dramas.
  21. You must remember that 'The Scissor Sisters', although American, enjoy much more popularity here in Britain than they do in the States.
  22. I think I'll take a walk in the local cemetery at midnight and ponder the many frivolities that this mortal coil brings us during our short time here. Either that or get drunk.
  23. Outstanding! You do realize, of course, that now you have to put one of these out quite frequently as many of us here are addicted to your arrangements and performances. Seriously though, keep it up.
  24. I gotta go with the rolling timps in Hook as a favorite just off the top of my head. But then again, everything in that score is pretty much perfect.
  25. Yeah - and I bet you five bucks that the score to 'Titanic' is one of them. Hey it can make the discussion about your passion for film scores alot easier. Hmmmm, never really thought about it that way MO - and I guess that after you get to 'know them', THEN you could start to ridicule them for their tastes. Brilliant!
