BobaMike got a reaction from Tallguy in What Live To Projection concerts have you seen and not seen?
I took the family to see the North American premiere of the LTP concert of Wallace &  Grommit: The Wrong Trousers.  It was great fun, although due to it being performed by the Northern VA Brass Band, there were no strings.  So the music was adapted a bit, but still sounded pretty close to the real thing.  My son plays the baritone in his school band, so he was excited to see it used quite a bit.  This was the first time I've been to the new Capitol One Hall, which is a very nice concert venue in Tysons Corner, VA.  As nice as Kennedy Center!

Julian Nott's score is fantastic (as are all of his W&G scores).  Too bad the early and best ones are all unreleased (save for his promo cd (and a bootleg).

Tickets went on sale today for Hook at Wolf Trap.  Got myself, the wife, and kid good seats.  My son has never seen the movie (although he's heard me play the score in the car often enough.)

This might be the earliest I've ever gotten tickets for something....it's not till Sep 5th!

I'm planning on going to this....it'll be the only time to see and hear Hook in my lifetime I'm sure!   Wolf Trap is lovely....but sit under the canopy, not out on the hill.

    Hello all,

I am trying to organize my digital music, and I have a track listed on a John Williams bootleg cd that is called "The Fury: Preview".   I don't think it is from the actual Williams score.  I downloaded this back in early 2000's.  Google thinks it might be Brahms, but gives me a different answer each time.  Does this sound familar to anyone?

BobaMike got a reaction from ST-321 in Kennedy Center John Williams concert 9/11-13/25
This was a really fun concert.  The NSO sounded great, and hearing Sugarland Express was a treat.  It was the same version from the Spielberg-Williams Collaboration album.  The conductor said he emailed John Williams (which I assume means his agent/manager) to ask permission to play it.

    A few random thoughts:
I don't think I've ever heard 1941 live before, but it was really fun to watch them play as well as listen to.
Jurassic Park was the suite with the wonderful T-Rex ending.
Hook/Flight to Neverland was a great way to start the 2nd half.  CE3K's ending still gives me goosebumps.
The program notes were a bit out of date, as it referenced BFG as his most recent score....then the conductor, when talking about Tintin, said it was Williams' only animated score. My only other complaint was that the Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra is the new version, which is not a patch on the original, imho.

The NSO does a really good job of programming film music, and even though it's a pain to drive into DC, I always try and attend as many as possible.

The new Disney+ show Lego Star Wars:Pieces of the Past season 2 has some pretty good music.  Lego Star Wars regular Michael Kramer (with Roberto Prado) returns (He did the excellent Freemaker Adventures).  His theme for the bad guys, Solitus, is pretty good.   Sadly all the great adaptions of Williams' Star Wars themes are left off the soundtrack, though.
Can anyone tell if this was done with a real orchestra?  I know the earlier stuff was.

Well, I emailed him and just asked him a few questions:  He said it was a 70 piece live orchestra!  He adapted Williams' themes (they weren't just needle drops from the Williams OSTs) but he wasn't allowed to put them on the soundtrack.

Julian Nott's score is fantastic (as are all of his W&G scores).  Too bad the early and best ones are all unreleased (save for his promo cd (and a bootleg).
