  1. Based on the responses of a few others on this thread, I don't think it's a ridiculous stretch at all.
  2. This is not a "JW is a Hack" thread. I'm just saying that they are similar enough to the point where I think JW was influenced by it.
  3. (I searched but found nothing on this topic) It seems glaringly obvious Williams was influenced by this, see 7:25:
  4. I still find it mindboggling how most of you continue to hate on G Lucas. Virgins!
  5. I started laughing about 2 minutes into Dawn Treader because the score was far, far superior to the first two movies' music. Right off the bat, the music was so much more magical. They had the TLTWATW on ABC the other night and I face palmed big time after hearing that cheesey, 3rd tier garbage of a score. So uselessly over the top. I can't help but wonder how much better the first two films would have been if they had a real film composer write the music.
  6. I also agree that the score to the first movie helped turn me off to this series. Among other things. I'm excited that they are going to get a real composer to do the work. Also, this book is the most condusive to film, so I think it will be good. No question it will be the best one yet.
  7. I really enjoyed Attack of the Clones the first time I saw it. It is one of my favorite movies. Also, regarding the posts above -- it took me 5 years to figure out why Lucas added another new villain, Grevious.
  8. I just saw AI for the first time a couple days ago. Amazing! What an epic film! I wish I had seen it in the theater. I don't understand all the criticism. Just goes to show don't always trust the critics. Wow, just wow. PS: I used the search function to no avail in trying to find an AI thread. Apologies if I missed it.
  9. This was a really good April fools joke!! I'm not even allowing myself to get upset because the joke was so well executed! Good job! Totally got me!!
  10. my goodness, some of these posts are causing me to faceplant into my palms. i don't understand how you could see a landmark film like avatar and then argue that the horses should have 4 legs. I simply do not get it. I hope for Christmas some of you folks get the chance to practice procreating to take your mind off these silly conundrums.
  11. It was the foulest, most disgusting, over commercial, money-sucking enterprise that I've ever had the misfortune to witness. The music is relegated to the background behind the risible video & laser wank that surrounds it. I would rather remove my own eyeballs with a teaspoon than go anywhere near this vomit inducing suckfest ever again. I've been trying to cut down on telling people they need to get laid but I'm really restraining myself here. I do not understand this last post at all but I suppose you found something really irritating about it, so that's fine. I really, really enjoyed this concert. I wanted to hate it but it had me in tears. So magical!
  12. I don't know what you guys are smoking. After hearing the youtube clip above, I'm sure Spielberg went to JW and said, "Hey Maestro, I got a revelation and I want TLW theme to sound like this... <plays Capricorn One>...can you do it?" It has to be. And Spielberg really liked the TLW theme, right? I'm sure, it makes total sense now. No question.
  13. why don't you wait till the movie arrives, watch it and then if you still can, ask the question again. Seriously. Perhaps spend that time trying to increase the world's population.
  14. The Anthology was the greatest thing in the world until the SEs came out. Damn I love JW.
  15. Wow, very interesting! HZ is not evil after all!

  17. I disagree with pretty much everything you say here. (I don't know enough to disagree with the score rip-off)
  18. 2012 actually turned out to be a good, exciting movie. Really cheesey and phoney, but just a lot of fun!!
  19. Mick LaSalle said this is the "first post-post-9/11 film." Interesting. I hope to see it tonight.
  20. The flute screams here really make it masterful. They echo their appearance earlier in the piece and seem to remind you where you came from. Damn it Jim I love the Asteroid Field.
  21. That's insane. Actually the reason I've listened 100 or so times is to accomplish a similar feat, should be interest. Will post it if I ever complete it. Pretty insane so far, though I like the Pink Floyd sound on this one. Mine's a little more aggressive.
