The fact that Luke and Leia is one of my favorite all time pieces yet somehow my least favorite of the 4 mentioned above is mind boggling, even to the Genius Gone Insane.

Cantina band literally changed the course of my life.

I've heard of this thing hundreds of times. I asked people which were saying this to be more precise, and they could never answer me. I'm a composer, I know very well the Planets by Holst and Gladiator by Zimmer, and I would be glad if you could say me which part of "The Battle" seems to be so IDENTICAL to the Planets. If you can, tell me also the bars on the full score of Mars. Thanks. Instead of this, I think that the only awful thing is the fact that the ending of that cue (you know, the quiet section with strings and vocals at the end of the track) is IDENTICAL (this time it's evidently understandable) to track 5 of the soundtrack "The Secret of the Sahara" by Ennio Morricone (written in 1987 !!!). It is also in the same key and with a similar instrumentation (except for the voice). If anyone has got Gladiator and Secret of the Sahara, try to listen to that! Just listened to Gladiator and nearly threw up when I heard this Mars imitation. That is quite a blatant ripoff. Yes, I know this is a tired topic, but I still want to add my $0.02. I do enjoy the soundtrack otherwise.

Great question! I think the answer is NO but part of the reason is that the films JW has scored have not called for such sounds.

All I know is I saw a Youtube video in the vain of this thread which said something to the effect of "Listen to classical music, not movie music" and it steamed me pretty good. I'm still upset about that.

What this thread needs is a sister thread that cites musicians who have ripped off no one. I doubt there are many such composers.

Um, no...why would you even say "seemingly misused"? Why can't you say "It would make more sense to me if..." This is a microcosm of whole problem with so many members of this board who think their sh*t doesn't stink.
