    TPM for both.

The score is unequivocally outstanding. Top ten JW score for me. It's such a large piece of work with so much new material and yet it is still identifiable as Star Wars. JW kind of opened up what a Star Wars score could be, so much so that the other two, while still very good, feel somewhat like they're in its shadow, particularly with "Duel of the Fates".

It's insane to call TPM a better movie than the rest of the PT, because it is not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination. But it feels the most tactile, the most "cinematic" in the way the OT was visually and production-wise that it wins nearly by default. The digital cinematography of the latter two just looks awful, and contains some truly terrible elements that TPM does not have, namely Hayden Christensen and the "romance" between Padme and Anakin. Plus it has easily the best lightsaber fight, the only one that's really worth a damn in the PT.

I agree with Newman, but I'd still be curious as to what Williams would have done with LOTR. But, that's all water under the bridge, and everything turned out out for the best.

I wouldn't want to dismiss anyone who hated the film by saying they were just adverse to risk-taking. There are probably some people out there like that, but for the majority of people who were dissatisfied it was less the fact that risks and subversions were made and more the individual story decisions. And I say this as someone who really liked the film, even loved it in some places. But I recognize it has some significant flaws, and if there is to be any peace in the fan community we would do well to not generalize too much.

I feel I need to see it again (at least once) to process my own feelings about it. I think this movie has problems, the biggest of which being Finn and Rose's plot thread, but there is still so much in it that I love. And I have to admire the risks that were taken even if not all of them work. But I'm sympathetic to the people who feel cheated and let down by it. This is a film that seemed almost engineered to be divisive, and will undoubtedly be analyzed and debated for years to come. Rian Johnson and the Lucasfilm suits had to have known there would be controversy with this movie, which makes the decision to give Johnson a whole trilogy of his own pretty strange and even more brazen than it already looked.

The trailer gave me a better grasp on the characters, which was the main thing I wanted out of it. I don't care too much about plot specifics, especially for this movie. The trailer established more of a general feel for the state of the story rather than the story's beats and that's fine for me. When it comes to trailers I usually err on the side of ambiguity, not because it can be misleading but because I'd rather not have the story spoiled for me.

It is possible to have different opinions to RLM. I understand their points about Rogue One but I liked it a lot more than they did.

Yeah, how dare they enjoy a movie. They should only have morose, cynical disdain for everything.

I'm a fan of Giacchino and I'm looking forward to what he does, but it is disappointing to me that Desplat's gone. I feel like I can expect what a Giacchino Star Wars score would sound like, but a Desplat Star Wars score would've been something harder to predict. The prospect of that was exciting, and it seemed inevitable that Giacchino would come around anyway.

I'm surprised this has never happened before. Indy seems like something that could work well in animation, as long as it's allowed to have a comparable level of bite to it.

Any scene with Alfrid is repugnant. As is Fili/Taurial. And the CGI clownshows. Basically everything everyone else mentioned.

The SNES still has maybe the greatest library of any single console. So many absolute classics on that system from a wide variety of genres. Platformers, RPG's, fighters, racing games, shooters; it had it all.

And lend a higher degree of nobility and heroism to him. He is, after all, a superhero. There's a certain stubbornness to him not killing. It would be so much easier if he just carried a gun and shot people. But he would then be no different than the murderers he pursues, and for there to be any kind of greater purpose to his crusade beyond a nihilistic cycle of violence and death there has to be a clear delineation between Bruce and the "bad guys", however thin it might be.
