It took three people to write two notes?!

I've listened to the samples on the Disney website. This sound amazing!
 
I don't care that a lot of people seem to hate/not like Giacchino, I'm a big fan of his.
I really like the new Buzz theme and Zurg's theme sounds great too.
The choir is a nice addition, especially in the end credits cue.
Can't wait to hear it in full.

Ha, I liked when the interviewer was all "I heard all these callbacks to Randy Newman's themes" and Gia was immediately like "we didn't do any callbacks to themes".

Tim Greiving published a nice interview with Andrew Stanton today about the scores for Pixar movies.
 
Very cool detail that the reason Randy Newman scored the first Toy Story is because Stanton loved to play the Avalon OST while writing it.

A bit of random randomness here but earlier I was listening to some edits I assembled from all the appearances of the Naz'Gul theme in Fellowship, and I came across "Flight to the Ford" (i.e. Arwen being pursued by Black Riders) and, my oh my. I mean, I know those singers in the choir are trained and experienced and can do all kind of vocal ranges but... to literally shout those notes at that "pitch" (or whatever the term for that is) for a minute makes me wonder about the state of their voices after that session was wrapped. The Naz'Gul theme and all its variations still sends chills down my spine after all these years.

Hah! I just noticed the melody at the end of track 5, with the kind of 80's computer sound beats...is Giacchino's Lost World Raptor theme!

Giacchino’s action music still, in terms of writing, is usually about on par with a cat on a piano. And cats are cuter.

Did nobody else notice Da Plane and Da Cycle isn't on the CD version???

Depends on your point of view, I love Giacchinos pun titles, including Live and Let Jedi and personally would have liked pun titles for the whole score. But I asked him on Twitter and got no response, so you can sleep soundly knowing that he hasn't thought of any puns outside of the OST.

It's all about how the instrument is used; I don't have anything on a do-not-fly list.  But if the music is bad, I don't want to hear any of them.

I was hoping for at least another "Wands into the Earth" moment in this one. Nopes. It's all quiet underscore.
