  1. After very few listens I can hum the main theme. He has worked his magic.
  2. So Batiste’s contribution is not large enough (same as for Newman’s score apparently being only 40% of the music in the film). I’m bad at math. So R&R is less than 60%? Hm, pretty poor to uphold the rules to differing degrees for different composers.
  3. I now dig this after a few listens, I just think Newman has class, never sounds cheap. Love the piano riffs.
  4. Not an answer but it seems someone has asked before https://www.disboards.com/threads/disneyland-pirates-of-the-caribbean-banjo-music-help.3615458/
  5. Here is a good piano rendition of Horner’s main theme, which has grown on me with a few listens.
  6. Just discovered this and thought I'd see on here for people's opinion but I kind of knew what the consensus would be. I'm an occasional viewer of this forum rather than a poster. I mean I am enjoying it. Does anyone know if self-plagiarism was ever put to Horner?
  7. Haha okay, okay. I don't hate Zimmer at all though, I loved Kung Fu Panda 3 just this past month. I do hate what I've heard of BvS so far - I must stress "so far", we haven't heard it all yet! But my opinion isn't mindless! That is unfair. Admit it the released snippet is just noise compared to the likes of KFP3.
  8. I am not that musical a person; I play in a drum corps but I don't know THAT much about music theory. I hate what we've heard so far, but it's not intellectual disdain for Zimmer. No point sugar coating it BECAUSE we didn't expect anything different. It's horrible.
  9. It already feels MoS dumbed down (even further). Remember those MoS trailers, where we had Shore's LotR music, and then that pretty nice piano motif. It was at least interesting.
  10. Sounds horrible, complete with that 7/8 rhythm that appears in Zimmer's work EVERYWHERE.
  11. Any thoughts on the similarities between 'Snoke' and the music which accompanied Palpatine's discussion of Dark Plageuis with Anakin in RotS? It may have been discussed on here elsewhere, but I haven't found it! I don't believe the music features anywhere on the RotS OST. 12. People have suggested that whilst Rey's Theme is lovely, it makes little impact on the rest of the album? I've picked it up at few times. (I'm only at The Abduction currently!)
  13. If it is action driven, what we heard in the short clip released a few weeks ago was pretty good.
  14. http://www.amazon.fr/Star-Wars-7-Bande-Originale/dp/B014V6JIQK/ Tracklist? "Scherzo for X-Wings" Who called it?
  15. It's all slightly underwhelming, and there's too many moments when I'm listening and thinking it's nice yes, but the sound is crap.
  16. Just from the clips and this B-roll you can identify clear motifs and themes.
  17. The final couple of action cues are based off of The Moors from Skyfall, but it isn't just copied, it's placed in a new context I guess, to fit different action on the screen. Might annoy some, but I'm fine with having stuff carried over, it feels like a continuation. I'm loving Snow Plane.
  18. The BAFTA interview has really hit it home, the discussion about his future projects.
  19. Don't know whether this has ever been discussed, but listening to Cocoon, I'm hearing Tomorrowland. Just noticed it. Cocoon I think was used for a Super 8 trailer, also scored by Giacchino. Really influential earlier score by Horner.
