  1. JW realized that Hedwig's Theme didn't convey how 'love can overcome all things'. He probably didn't score the rest of the series because he knew Frederic Lemonhead would expose him for the fraudulent composer he really is!
  2. I think specialty labels would be the most likely avenue of expanded/complete releases. Harry Potter's close on materializing soon, right?
  3. Well, to the general audience, if they hear the Force Theme and/or the Imperial March, they're pretty much sold on the score. Screw your snazzy themes and complex writing Williams. Nostalgia is slowly killing off nostalgia.
  4. Sometimes if I'm on a particularly long trip to uni and I've exhausted the highlights, I'll pick a score like KotCS or TPM and listen to it all the way through. I am consistently surprised by all the hidden gems that come out this way and goes to show giving the score a full listen isn't as grueling as it's thought to be.
  5. Nah, there'll be a theme for Rey and BB-8 and that'll be the first love theme of the saga.
  6. Joe Kraemer is now scoring Force Awakens, Williams conceded Kraemer could do it better.
  7. I wish he would have written a longer suite or something like the NBC 'The Mission' theme. It just sounds so good.
  8. One from recent memory: Star Ship Escapes (1:34 - 2:16) from Superman. Love that little bit and another <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-ekfJbWrnGM"frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> 2:07 - end For some reason, it's really a warm, fuzzy ending in the film as the scene of Grant and the kids are sleeping in the tree changes to Ellie watching Hammond.
  9. 'Please, John, Howard and I are...we're only friends. Nothing more, I swear!'
  10. Over here in Aus, the ABC retailers have loads of the limited edition copies every time I go in there.
  11. We may not get an amazing score but I'm sure we'll get some great theme(s)
  12. All three of the LotR Complete Recordings. The Indiana Jones collection. Jupiter Ascending (signed). Star Trek Into Darkness (Deluxe Edition) primarily because it was one I very much enjoyed. Tron Legacy (special edition) because of the cover. Doctor Who Series 8 slipcase limited edition with posters.
  13. The question is, is Joe Kraemer the new Michael Giacchino?
  14. I love both trilogies equally. I think TGP is right to think the 'filler' stuff is more than meets the eye...or ear. So in the spirit of this ordering, here's my take: ESB > ROTS > ROTJ > ANH > AOTC > TPM but this order is in flux depending on my moods so...
  15. It's hard to tell but I think it will have the prequel sound but with more of a flair harkening back to the OT. IIRC TPM is a close amalgamation of that sound.
  16. Guys, CC's Rings and Hobbits reviews are the longest writeups he's done for any filmscore. At least on that point we can agree we share the same respect for those scores?
  17. I think Tomorrowland is a wonderful score and CC can give it five stars if he so pleases. I actually expected him to shit all over this score, so it was surprising that it wasn't a negative overtone like many of his reviews of contemporary scores are.
  18. Attack of the Clones is underrated as a score, but I guess the concensus seems to be that it isn't as much a 'Star Wars' score.
  19. Spalko's theme, Dovchenko?'s theme, the Skull theme all wonderful additions to the indy music library. The film may have been disappointing but the music is still top-knotch stuff.
  20. I can only imagine how much more versatile their haunting trumpet solos and minimalist tense strings would've been. Obviously Spielberg agreed and couldn't call Newman fast enough. Unless it was Newman's plan all along. That fiendish cad!
  21. Absolutely love the main theme and it's appearance in 'The Joy of End Credits'. It's my favorite Giacchino theme this year with some of the Tomorrowland cues close behind!
  22. For now, aside from 2009, Giacchino has never had four scores back to back.
  23. "Attack music" is very vague, surely it could just sound like the sort from the OT? I'm hoping for more trumpety swirls ala 'Attack Position' from ESB!
  24. I enjoyed this score, and I agree with TheGreyPilgrim in that it certainly sounds like Gia put some attention into crafting this score. It's still a little distant for me to like so much now, but like with Tomorrowland, I'm sure I'll warm to it after seeing the film. I have to congratulate Giacchino for consistently creating unique scores for the shit-tonne he had to work through this year. Here's hoping Inside Out sounds as good as the material we've heard so far!
