You kidding? Not at all. 
 
JW is still arguably the most highly respected as well as successful film composer. Sure, there are others (I'm not saying he is the only one) but nobody matches his creativity, diversity, quality, and success. And this still holds true, imo.
 
 

Hi I am curious to see which one you like better between The Train Sequence originally scored by Danny Elfman and then later done by Christopher Young for the final film version. I will leave a link to youtube that has both Young's the Elfman's version! Let the battle begin!

Our first DVD player had the option to switch the audio output between 2Ch and 5.1Ch. We didn't have surround, but if you set the player to 5.1Ch, it would send only the front left and right channels to the TV speakers via the SCART cable.
 
I used to play the LotR movies that way to be able to listen to the full thing, even though that still meant listening through many sound effects, volume changes and some (brief) stretches without any score.

I would love to hear him do that for Carrie!

That is very interesting. I don't really know what career path I will choose but A) Just because I'm a film score fan, it's interesting to read about what really makes up the life of a film composer - aside from those idyllic scenes we get of modern John Williams who basically gets whatever major project he wants, doesn't have to do mock-ups, only has to score one film a year, etc. and B) It's a helpful reminder that ANY career, really (although ones where you have to get one-at-a-time "gigs" like film scoring or directing more so) making connections to get a job is just as important as being able to do the job well, and is an art of its own.

Nah wish it was that easy xD started talking because a project then about a year later he said he had a cd and would give me a copy
