  1. My thoughts exactly on the throne room. Alhough I'm a trumpet player I always hated that distorted sound. Even with only one quick pass through New hope from my phone to my Bose system in my car I can easily say it's a really nice improvement from the previous release. And that's with the iTunes version. I can't wait to hear ESB.
  2. Holy crap, I was actually considering buyint it, but now seeing the crazy exchange rate, I'm glad I didn't. Stupid Canadian $. Great purchase though.
  3. There's actually a suite available for orchestra, or will be very soon. http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/star-wars-the-force-awakens-suite-for-orchestra-sheet-music/20175789 I would be very surprised if he didn't play most of it in Boston.
  4. The Jedi steps and finale on the OST runs 8:51. The V mvt of the Hal Leonard suite seems to suggest a run time of about 9 mins. Should we be lucky enough to have this complete track as presented on the OST in full score? That would be great. Either way, if JW does Film night in Boston, he'll more than likely play some parts of this suite, if not the whole thing. Then we would have a decent recording, like the new arrangement of Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra that was premiered last May.
  5. Very cool! Thanks for this info. I'll be picking this one up as soon as it's out. I'm still really hoping to see JW perform it in Boston in May with the Pops. Their May calendar is still empty....
  6. I think it's safe to say a suite is coming soon. I'm sure it's already done since he's definitely going to perform it at his upcoming concerts. I think I'll send an email to Sheetmusicplus, where I get all my scores.
  7. If I remember correctly, last year's Film nights Boston concerts were announced either late Feb or early March. Still hoping he'll be there next May.
  8. To be honnest from the 60 minutes clip he doesn't really conducts a whole lot. The thing is most of the score is probably on click, so the conducting isn't really that important. I'm sure JW gives his instructions before they start recording, then the musicians have the click and play their parts. That's what professionals do. His writing is way more important than the conducting. Some conductors are more in the way than anything else, and I've seen my share of them. The fact that Dudamel conducts is awesome. He's a great conductor. I hope he gets credited.
  9. Couldn't of said it better! Every single track sounds unique in its own way. I love it!Totally agree with both statements. That being said, Raiders with the LSO performing is pretty amazing too.
  10. I'm really happy he traveled to Boston. Really hoping he'll be in good enough shape to conduct Film night in May.
  11. He is still confirmed for Philly in May. My guess is he will perform TFA music at that concert, though obviously scheduling order to determine the "premiere."Tough call for him for sure. I think he may saved playing TFA stuff for Boston though. I guess we'll see. Philly will be a great concert for sure. Great orchestra.
  12. I don't want to be over optimistic, but could that mean he's going to be at Symphony Hall in May? One can only hope to hear the premiere of TFA concert arrangements live. After last year though if he's announced I'm driving. Not booking flights only to cancel them.
  13. Definitely is very close to the ost version, but he added a few twists. BPO performance is top notch too.
  14. I just received Scherzo for Motorcycle and orchestra. It's actually a new arrangement, not the track of the same name from the OST. It has been performed (maybe premiered?) at the Film night concert last May, which is available here http://www.wgbh.org/programs/The-Boston-Symphony-Orchestra-in-Concert-1641#63461 That piece starts around the 1hour and 3 minutes mark. Fun arrangement and the performance sounds great.
  15. Let's hope he can make it next May and play excerpts from TFA.
  16. I was to pick up the ticket at the box office. Maybe that made it easier to get a refund.
  17. I actually just replied to the email I received regarding the change of conductor. A day later it was all settled. Still a bummer as I was really looking forward to see him conduct at symphony hall.
  18. Same reply I got. At least they were nice enough to tefund the tickets.
  19. Trying to guess the program.....Some SW since new movie is 7 months away. Maybe something from Jaws since it'll be the 40th anniversary on June 1. What about something from Hook as a tribute to Robin Williams? So much to choose from. Whatever he picks it'll be great.
  20. Looks like the 2 shows are pretty much sold out. Glad I got my ticket when I did.
