Cerebral Cortex reacted to #SnowyVernalSpringsEternal in The Force Awakens Disney Records OST
The opening of The Asteroid field, those flutes followed by a killer statement of The Imperial March on brass is mixed with it's film footage is possibly my favorite and most dynamic mix of music and picture.

Depending on your age, your opinion may or may not be valid. Just how these things work.

Cerebral Cortex reacted to crumbs in Star Wars: The Last Jedi scoring sessions resume in Los Angeles
Spielberg/Williams: The Lost Collaborations, which will include a selection of John's favourite tracks missing from the Ultimate Collection. Such highlights include Secret Doors and Scorpions (Extended Version) and With Malice Towards None (Piano Version).
The Lost World, A.I. and War of the Worlds will remain omitted, with Williams citing the "lack of disc space" as the reason (the CD will only be 45 minutes long).

Cerebral Cortex reacted to Not Mr. Big in The Force Awakens Disney Records OST
I've had 15 years of being indifferent about it.

Cerebral Cortex reacted to Disco Stu in Favorite short musical moments in Williams scores?
Minority Report is such an underrated score. Top 5 Williams score of this century for me. I too love his subtle use of synthesized voices throughout much of the score!

Cerebral Cortex reacted to crumbs in Star Wars: The Last Jedi scoring sessions resume in Los Angeles
The TFA sessions Daisy attended included the recording of Rey's Theme, so she was probably worded up by Disney/JJ.
This being one of the last sessions for TLJ maybe they recorded the concert suites today, and Daisy was told she could hear the new theme for Rey and Luke?

Cerebral Cortex reacted to TheUlyssesian in Who should score James Bond #25?
I think the Casino Royale score is the best Craig era score by far.
Infact the main theme from that score was used so well in that score and was so fitting for the new Bond that I always thought it should have been mada a second character theme for Bond.

Cerebral Cortex got a reaction from TheUlyssesian in Who should score James Bond #25?
The guy who runs Hans Zimmer's half-official/half-fan webpage uploads composer credits for what he can get accurate info on and has consistently been quite a reliable source regarding who worked on what. On his authority, Powell worked a surprisingly large amount on Jason Bourne. Stuff like the first minute or so of Strip Chase is entirely Powell.
Regarding who does the next Bond score, I'd be happy as a clam if we could get Kraemer, but would also be quite enthused if Arnold could have one last crack at it, especially if Craig returns for one final outing. Would be poetic to have Arnold and Craig go out together.

Cerebral Cortex reacted to Not Mr. Big in Williams interview on KUSC 91.5 with Jim Svejda
Check for mentions of VIII. A Jedi Council Board member recently overheard a radio program where he heard that Williams "absolutely loves" what he's seen of TLJ so far.

I can't see that anyone's posted about this already, but I just saw that Williams was last night featured on Jim Svejda's Evening Program from 8-11pm talking about the Williams/Spielberg collection. Wondering how you can listen back to KUSC streams as I can't find anything about it on their site - or did anyone happen to record it?

Cerebral Cortex reacted to crumbs in Doug Adams Talks Star Wars Music
Just throwing it out there, but if Doug ever did a Star Wars book, wouldn't he wait until Williams has finished writing the scores?
Last I checked there were two more John Williams Star Wars scores in the pipeline, y'all.

Cerebral Cortex reacted to Loert in Doug Adams Talks Star Wars Music
So is he saying that Williams joined the first interval of Luke's theme and the first interval of Leia's theme to form the minor 6th in the love theme of Luke and Leia's parents???!!!
Now that is some next-level music analysis!
Next up: "The role played by gender in shaping intervallic relations within the music of the Star Wars prequels".
