  1. 3 Body Problem Episodes 1-3 Super impressed with this show, one of the most exiting new shows in quite a while. Full of mysteries and interesting ideas. Looking forward to see how it unfolds and I believe S2 is being written right now!
  2. 3 Body Problem Season 1 by Ramin Djawadi:
  3. Really looking forward to S2! Will start a rewatch sometime in May.
  4. I hope they do it like in the old days and keep the actors at least for M but preferably also Moneypenny and Q in place. There’s no need to replace them.
  5. I read that there will be a 4th movie. Honestly I enjoyed the 3rd movie quite a bit. The scene where he sports a VR headset and walks around London fighting people with baguettes brought the house down in the theatre where I saw it a few years ago.
  6. I have it on good authority that this unconventional Bond will end up creeping through a toilet in the last act of Bond 26 In all seriousness, ATJ was good in Nocturnal Animals and Tenet, which are the only movies I've seen him in so I'm cautiously optimistic if this casting is real. I would have liked to see Henry Cavil, Richard Madden or Idris Elba though even if it's a few years too late for Elba. They really should have cast him a few years ago as he would have been really good.
  7. Listened to the OST again and am really impressed! The development of the themes from the first score is top notch and I love how the Haderach/Messiah theme is used alongside the Arrakis/Dune A and the Dune Main theme. And the love theme is up there with Zimmer's most beautiful themes, the combination of the melody with the accompaniment motif played by the horn sounding instrument and the bell phrase in Kiss the Ring is amazing! I hope that a longer album or a Sketchbook album is planned because the sonic world of these scores is so rich and deserves more album releases! I'm really looking forward to hearing A Quiet Time Between Storms live at the new WOHZ concert later this spring. I think it will be a slightly more orchestral arrangement which could be a nice alternate!
  8. That’s a shame, was looking forward to hear Gi revisit the themes he wrote for the first score
  9. “As it was written, Lisan al gaib” - Stilgar “Why did the emperor choose this path and who will our next oppressors be?” - Chani ”Long live the fighters” - Paul Atreides “My desert, my Arrakis, my dune” - Barron Harkonnen - We are House Atreides. There is no call we do not answer. There is no faith that we betray“ - Duke Leto
  10. Just saw the movie again and was just as impressed as the first time! The movie is a masterpiece! I also appreciate the score much more on second viewing, having listened to the OST, as the thematic development is so satisfying to hear unfold! The big scene which happens after Paul Arrives in the South remains super intense and everything that follows is just pure cinema! I hope we get a Sketchbook release for Part 2 as there is probably a lot of unused stuff lying around!
  11. The love theme/atreides theme was partly written during the scoring process of Dune Part One but was adapted and developed further after the score was finished. We got a version of this development on the sketchbook track 3. For example at 0:15 in this clip we can hear the theme: The opening section performed here in this clip is what I call the House Atreides call to Arms section A variation because this is also used in Armada, when the Atreides soldiers and Gurney run towards the Harkonnens in the battle. In Part Two, the A section is not used in this way but has the Love variation which shares some progressions and melodic pets but is quite different (performed on duduk often). The B section is played at 0:47 in the clip linked above and is used a lot in Part Two in the romantic cues but often with a slightly different harmonic accompaniment, giving the theme a different feeling in Part Two, like in the case of Kiss The Ring, a quite sad feeling. The theme that is used a lot for House Atreides is what I call the House Atreides Noble theme. It appears in the second half of Herald of the Change, in My Road Leads into the Desert and several others including the second part of Only I Shall Remain. Everyone seems to have a slightly different view of what the themes in Leaving Caladan represent but the 8 note theme I usually just call the Dune main theme whereas the theme plying in the opening of Leaving Caladan or Sanctuary are either Dune Main B or the Arrakis theme (which I think another member, Mephariel used). Both themes are very entwined and work great together but I would say that they’re separate themes. I definitively wouldn’t say that any of them represent Caladan though. There is a motif that represents Sandworm Power though which is this kind of siren like sliding motif together with the low bass guitar part. It plays towards the end of Ripples in the Sand (before the main theme comes in at the end) and also appears in other sand worm moments.
  12. ”It’s not the plane, it’s the pilot” "We used to look up at the sky and wonder at our place in the stars, Now we just look down and worry about our place in the dirt."
  13. The Setlist looks amazing. I hope that it was recorded.
  14. I love FOTR but my favorite has always been Two Towers.
  15. That’s crazy! Dune Part Two cost less than that!
  16. Yeah it’s clear that villenueve was looking for something very specific score wise. Looking at the scores in his earlier movies both Dune scores are a lot more melodic than the scores to said earlier movies.
  17. I saw the movie last night and was completely blown away! I was spellbound throughout the whole movie and it was one of my best experiences ces in a cinema. I loved the first movie and think this one is even better. The decision to split the book into two films was necessary and both films feel like complete movies which are part of a larger story. The first film set the stage and alongside all the big story beats that happened set up a lot of lore and history which is then further developed and built on in part two which has much more action. The movie looks incredible and having avoided the trailers, I was blown away by the imagery which together with the score transports you to Arrakis! Zimmer delivered a great score which builds on the material from the first score (both the score in the film and the sketchbook ideas). The love theme (which is derived from the House Atreides theme) is beautiful and cues like Time in Between Storms and Kiss the Ring are extremely moving. There are a lot of motifs, sounds and themes which refer to different ideas, characters and locations and I will definitively try to do some type of analysis of the album. I really liked how the ideas from Song of the Sisters was used in the Arena scene and in the seduction scene as that was always my favorite part of that suite. Even though a lot of major moments are included on the ost, there is quite a bit missing including the prologue. Denis Villenueve is a genius filmmaker who somehow manages to pull off adapting this dense book and you can tell that he has a real understanding of the source material. Chalame does a great job as Paul (the scene where he takes power is incredible) and Ferguson steals the show in her scenes (she is really scary at times). Zendeya as Chani and Butler as Feyd Rautha also deliver and in particular Bardem as Stilgar does a great job and delivers both serious and some lighthearted moments. The messiah scene has to be a nod to Life of Brian haha! The sequel was definitively worth the wait and I’m looking forward to seeing it again soon!
  18. The novellas from which this show will be based on are great. The storytelling takes place on a much smaller scale than GOT and HOTD and we get to see different sides of Westeros and its people. This show can turn out really well if they get the casting right for Duncan and ‘Egg’ and if they keep it on the smaller scale of the source material and don’t try to make it into a HOTD/GOT type show. I’m very curious how they will adapt the second novella as that story is directly related to the outcome of the Blackfyre Rebellions which I hope will be adapted in a later season of HOTD after the Dance of Dragons period is finished.
  19. I would love if Desplat scored this! Zimmer or Gia would also be good choices. Or might JW come out of retirement and complete the trifecta (returning for sw, indy and jurassic)
  20. Very exited about this show! Hope it lives up to the hype.
  21. In my thematic analysis I called it the A section of the Dune Main Theme, while the B section is the guitar/cello melody heard in Leaving Caladan after the A section plays in the beginning and together with the B section. They are often played together but maybe they’re separate themes, I’m not sure.
  22. They also turned down loads of free money for being listed as executive producers on all GOT spinoffs like HOTD. But like I said, that’s absolutely a valid opinion to have. However, it doesn’t change my mind about it being a masterful show.
  23. I think GOT and Sopranos and BB are great shows, if someone doesn’t, then that’s of course completely fine! The revisionism regarding GOT as a show is pretty amusing though but of course to each his own.
  24. I still need to watch the Wire! Have heard great things about it.
  25. Mad Men is a masterpiece on par with Sopranos, Breaking Bad and GOT!
