  1. The hanging tree version on the VA album is used twice I think but there is also a third anpperance) when they leave district 12), which uses orchestra alongside the vocals which is unreleased. The first time the song is heard is when Snow meets Lucy the first time in District 12 (by the tree in the field). Then she sings it one more time but it’s cut short. The third time is the version with orchestra. Then I think maybe it appears a 4th time in the Forrest scene towards the end.
  2. Man that holst joke is so old! In the same vein, Chris Colombus should go to Tchaikovsky, Peter Jackson should go to Bruckner… the list is so long…🤣
  3. The people who lobbied for a CD release were clearly fans of the score. I can't understand why they would release an even shorter version of the regular OST as the people who campaigned for the release would surely be disappointed. I see no point in owning this CD if it doesn't even have all the tracks from the regular OST. I hope it does well though so that they might consider releasing the complete 4 hour score.
  4. Everyone is of course entitled to their opinion but man, if someone told me 5 years ago that people would complain that not enough of new scores are unreleased, I wouldn’t have believed it. Longer albums is the best new trend in film music in my opinion and rather than think the new JNH ost is too long, I was disappointed that it wasn’t longer, given the number of tracks! 😄 Whenever I listen to a “curated” ost it always feels a bit inconsequential. When listening to scores I want to be engrossed in the musical journey of the full score and highlights style albums just don’t cut it. But of course, to each his own. In a perfect world new scores would get a short album and a truly complete album (with alts suites etc).
  5. I'm really exited for the score by HGW! It's a shame that he didn't do Equalizer 3 and Napoleon but at least we have this one to look forward to! If Zimmer doesn't do Gladiator 2 (fingers crossed), then I hope HGW gets the gig as his collaborations with Ridley are always interesting.
  6. The main mistake they did was green lighting so many side projects after Endgame. They should have stuck with 2 to 3 movies per year and not start making shows. The shows made the universe more complicated and didn’t lead anywhere and made it feel like homework for people. They should have let it be streamlined and slowly built towards a new phase without the multiverse gimmick. I was a MCU fan during the first phases but after endgame I just can’t be bothered.p, though spider man nwh was great!
  7. Curb, Fallout, 3 Body Problem, HOTD and Masters of the Air for me! Also Severance if that gets released next year. Hope it’s not the last one!
  8. Case someone who likes the first score a lot, I think the following 3 scores are definitively better. Catching Fire really introduces so much of the sound and thematic material that is used in the next 2 scores, while retaining the DNA of the first score. My favourite is Mockingjay Part 1 but it’s closely followed by CF and MJ2. My only gripe with the last score is that there was only one appearance of the Hanging Tree theme. I still think that the Hanging Tree part in the third film is the best sequence in the entire film series, where JNH’s music really takes centre stage. Especially when the choir and the orchestra comes in.
  9. Air Raid Drill remains one of my favourite action cues from the series! The way he uses the emotional theme in the action is brilliant! President Snow’s theme is also great, really hope that it gets used in the new score!
  10. If you’re talking about the mixing and amount of reverb then yes!
  11. I was listening to Jack Reacher today and the score Krämer wrote (the 2 first cues are good examples) kind of show what kind of sound McQ likes for these types of movies. Balfe’s MI scores have something in common with this sound and I’m surprised that McQ didn’t just ask Kraemer for this type of sound already on MI5 as he can clearly do it. I personally enjoy all MI scores more or less but Kraemer’s score is definitively one of the better ones (doesn’t beat Ghost Protocol though)!
  12. I halv no need for the complete release to happen on CD. Digital is more than enough.
  13. Franglen has removed his tweet and posted a similar tweet without the 4CD part… hopefully he didn’t get a call from the studio or anything like that
  14. Haha, not whining about the release but that first cover is a cropped posted (the character at the bottom is cut from under the arms down) with a huge banner placed at the top. Compared to the work of Titus for some LLL releases it's terrible! Without the banner, the bottom text would appear underneath the bottom character's arms and his gun.
  15. Those covers are so ugly. The deluxe edition text is not even centered on those large banners... Great that this is being released on CD though but seriously, what is up with cover design these days-
  16. The main theme from Hidden Life is one of the most beautiful pieces JNH has ever written IMO so I can’t wait to hear him write more music for solo violin for this type of project! I had hoped JNH would finally win his Oscar for that score but sadly he was disqualified.
  17. Listened to the first couple of samples and am really impressed! I heard solo violin in one cue which is also promising! The main theme sounds a bit like Zimmer’s great the Pacific Theme but will be interesting to hear the full piece! Really looking forward to this score! I might watch the show as well because the trailer looked good.
  18. I get the point of an intermission when it’s intended by the director but I’d prefer to watch a long movie without it. For instance if I watch Avatar 2, Oppenheimer, LOTR or movies like this in the cinema I’m going for the experience and if they stop the movie and the lights come on it just takes me away from the film experience. I saw Titanic a few years ago with an intermission and the stopping point kind of worked but we were just waiting for the movie to start again so it didn't really add any benefit.
  19. Seeing violinist James Ehnes’ name on one track makes me happy! Hope there will be a lot of violin solos in the score!
