  1. Here is my complete collection of covers for Westworld S1-4: https://www.flickr.com/photos/162181720@N04/albums/72177720309922387 Click the link to get to the Album on Flickr!
  2. I won't listen to the OST until I've seen the film but judging by the tracks shared on YouTube a few days ago, I did enjoy the track Groves. It had a nice peaceful atmosphere and I like the harmonic shift in the bass that appears two or three times in the cue, that harmonic progression reminds me a bit of Dark Mal. I'm optimistic about the score so far and can't wait to see the film!
  3. Tenet used a real orchestra but recorded separately because of covid. I'm not big on that score though so hope that Oppenheimer is better.
  4. Broxton’s review is up https://moviemusicuk.us/2023/07/19/mission-impossible-dead-reckoning-part-one-lorne-balfe/
  5. I can’t wait to see Oppenheimer! It’s my most anticipated movie of the year alongside Dune Part 2!
  6. Ghost Protocol is an awesome score! Love the Russian theme, the Dubai theme and the action music. Also nice to get a rendition of Julia’s theme at the end. The mix is a problem but like Max wrote, the mix isn’t nearly as bad in MI4 as in MI3 and many other Gia scores. I like parts of the Fallout score (stairs rooftops for example) and after having listened to MI7, I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. It does get a bit repetitive though because the score uses the MI and Plot themes so heavily in similar ways throughout the score. I think the mix is much better in MI7, where the orchestra sounds punchier, and also MI7 features much fewer electronics than Fallout did. Cues like The Plot Thickens Are really fun actually, especially the Grace variation of the Plot theme is nice. The main problem is that most of the score has a similar sound / expression which makes it all blend together a bit. Hopefully Balfe writes some new themes for the next score so he doesn’t have to rely quite so heavily on the Schiffrin themes. I was half hoping that Gia’s Dubai theme would be used in the desert scene but sadly not.
  7. I saw it last night and was completely blown away! I was first a bit surprised by the slower pacing of the first 20 minutes but after that it kicks into gear and never lets up. Brilliant movie, good story and characters. As a fan of Hayley Atwell, it was great to see her have a big role like this and she was so good. The airport scene and the Rome chase were so much fun and the climax (I don't want to spoil it) was one of the most intense scenes I've seen in cinema in a long time. The practical effects are really the real deal. It was also nice to see Kitridge back and I liked the CIA characters chasing the IMF team, especially Degas, hopefully he's back in MI8. The villain was good too and I liked the whole overarching AI threat, I guess they were lucky with the timing, as the movie was written before the AI mania had started. Balfe's score works well in the movie and I do like his variation of the plot theme for Grace, and the new MI variation playing in the Venice chase. Overall the score is not varied enough though and a lot starts to sound similar after a while. I am curious how it will sound on album. The Venice arrival scene had some nice music so hopefully that cue appears on the OST. Overall I think Fallout was a better score based on my impression in the movie. I'm definitively seeing this again in the cinema soon!
  8. Here is an updated version of my MI7 cover, using cursive text:
  9. My feeling is that McQuarrie is all over the music and thus likes balfe who can write different stems and parts that he can then have a lot of control over with the editors. I might be wrong though.
  10. That Djawadi (Westworld and House of the Dragon) and McCreary (ROP) weren’t nominated, while Andor and Last of Us (adapted game music) were, is insane.
  11. I recently watched Silo S1 on ATV+ and can really recommend it. Very good show.
  12. Looks great. Can’t wait to see Oppenheimer, Napoleon and Dune 2 this year!
  13. I prefer this to the Fallout Main Titles. The tempo is higher and it has more energy.
  14. Golden Compass isn’t bad I thought, it’s His Dark Materials. I love his HP scores so I think he’d be a great fit for Narnia.
  15. Greta Gerwig is apparently directing at least 2 Narnia movies so given her history of working with Desplat, I think the odds are good that he will score the new Narnia movies! This would be a great scoring assignment! https://twitter.com/DiscussingFilm/status/1675791292620500994
  16. I felt in the cinema that the temp was slower and that it thus had a slightly heavier feeling than most versions of the theme.
  17. Just listened to the score for the first time and I enjoyed it a lot! Helena's theme is great and even Indy's theme gets some very nice variations. To Morocco is my favorite cue of the year so far!
  18. https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/indiana-jones-dial-destiny-cameo-marian-b2367582.html I just read this article where it states that Marion had a bigger part in the movie before Spielberg left and Mangold took over directing duties. I haven't followed the production of this movie but do we know other details of changes after Spielberg left? I really wish that Salla and Marion had been in the movie more. Marion was great in KOTKS so it felt natural that she'd be in this one properly. I wonder what Spielberg's movie would have been like.
  19. They could even have recast Mutt for the movie if they wanted to have him in the movie.
  20. I saw the movie tonight and while I enjoyed it, there are some things that were very disappointing. The off screen death of Indy’s son and his divorce felt so unnecesary and really put a damper on the whole movie. Indy can be a bit grumpy without this heavy baggage and they could just say that Mutt is living his own life instead of having him killed off off screen. Helena’s motivation also is wasn’t great IMO as the movie would have benefitted from her having a closer or at least better relationship with Indy. I also wanted to see Marion and Salla more as there wasn’t really any reason they couldn’t join on the adventure. However the movie on an overall story level is very well done. I like the Dial as a concept and the villains were pretty good. The train sequence was cool and so were many of the action scenes. The movie overall gives me a more negative feeling though because of the underlying sadness of Indy’s character throughout. JW’s score is great though and as someone who thinks Tintin is among JW’s best works, it was nice to hear some duel i spired music. Helena’s theme is beautiful and I can’t wait to listen to the CD! I will be seeing the movie again in a couple of weeks and hope that is have a more fun time with it on second viewing.
  21. The first cue on the complete score is actually Zimmer but he quit very soon into the scoring process. He changed scoring appointments with HGW who was originally doing Madagascar.
