Mr. Who got a reaction from Once in Harry Potter 7CD Collection - MUSIC discussion
I usually prefer listening to complete scores than to OSTs because with an OST you don't get the full picture and you might not get the best version of a cue. Many times the film version of a cue is much better than what we get on the OST. Thematic development is often ruined on a 1 hour OST because of chronology problems & missing music.

whaa? we've been waiting 15 years for this holy grail and now people say they like the OST better?

How CAN people claim the POA OST is an accurate representation of the score?! The most unique and brilliant cues are missing: Honeydukes music box, A Winter's Spell, the pub music, brief snow scene, etc, etc. No, let's repeat the useless end credits suite instead.
Also, I just don't understand why people keep going on about 'the composer's album intentions'. ET lasts 40 minutes and HP1 over 70 because the studio allowed him that luxury. So what makes anyone think that JW would never ever want a complete album to be released? Williams doesn't use some magic formula to completely transform a score for the OST and give us a transcedental 'listening experience'/concept album, he just does what he can with the time they allow him to use!

If most of the cues are good enough, I couldn't give less of a shit about a "listening experience".
Sorry for viewing a score I love for a film I like in the very specific context for which it was bloody created in the first place.

How can people here call themselves fans of John Williams if they think half the score isn't worth listening to?
-
Mr. Who reacted to Holko in Harry Potter 7CD Collection - MUSIC discussion
Fuck no.
Literally all the OST edits do is interrupt the actual flow of the actual score.

Agreed. The nerve of some people here!

Using up 12 minutes of the OST on that end credits suite is one of Williams' most perplexing soundtrack decisions. Almost 20% of the runtime dedicated to music already featured earlier on the soundtrack, from a relatively brisk ~105 minute score. Bizarre.

No it didn't, Joe THE HATEFUL 8 is a brilliant score, and is fully deserving of its Academy Award.

Sorry you may think its great but it isn't at the same level as The Force Awakens and your not giving a hoot about the best score category indicates you may not truely be a real John Williams fan. I will keep my eye on you sir.
As for John's comments they have carreer achievement awards. Give him that without denying a far superior composer his just do.

Interesting that Zimmer isn't working on this, but Ludwig Goransson. That's a big step up.

Well that’s it really - having the short cues cleanly presented means that anyone with even a very basic knowledge of audio sequencing can edit a listening experience that best suits them. That’s not so easy to do when the cues are already merged into each other

Mr. Who got a reaction from The Illustrious Jerry in Ludwig Goransson's Black Panther (2018)
I think this is one of the best marvel scores to date. The blend of styles is very well done and it creates a distinct sound for the movie.
Göransson will also score the new Venom movie!

Mr. Who reacted to Quintus in Anyone else over the spoiler hysteria?
I don't even like knowing if a movie has big twist at the end of it, because I then end up guessing it, so no, I'm not over being spoiled at all. It irritates me actually, how people always have to rush to tell those who are yet to see a movie (or show, or a game) that there is a really nice twist at the end. It's like they can't control themselves. Professional reviewers are just as guilty as anyone else for doing that, too.

I think Endgame will make more money than Rise of Skywalker, but yeah Disney will make all the money at the box office
