  1. I expect you not to rest until you can assure Kathy Kennedy that Lord and Miller have not compromised this franchise in any way.
  2. Well, it would have been downgraded, as cameras aren’t exactly the greatest in the dark - it’s far easier to shoot something a bit brighter and downgrade than sacrifice image quality with a tonne of grain. But AUJ is nowhere near ungraded, did you see the first trailer? 😛 That looked more ungraded.
  3. To be honest, it’s not that dark outside with the fathiers at all, and clearly brighter than what actual night would look like. And though that part of the film is utterly pointless to me, I have to say, though I was scrutinising that sequence on my second viewing (as I’d seen your disfavourable comparison to the AUJ warg chase scene beforehand), I thought the vfx on the fathiers was fine, and way more convincing than the wargs from the early scene in AUJ (which itself was not helped by the dreadful overbrightening and bloom-ing of almost every shot in that film, presumably to aid brightness for the 3D viewings. The original vfx shots as seen in WETA’s videos look way better without the grading)
  4. Nah, it was his ESB one, the real version of which had ceased to exist by that point, having just been split in half by Rey and Ren
  5. Made a simple OST/FYC combo playlist based on CGCJ's Analysis, and shamelessly ripped off the formatting from Jay's OST/FYC playlists for TFA and Rogue One (Sorry Jay ) 01) OST 07 The Rebellion is Reborn (Concert Arrangement) 02) FYC 01 Escape 03) OST 02 Ahch-To Island 04) OST 03 Revisiting Snoke 05) OST 04 The Supremacy 06) FYC 04 Admiral Holdo 07) FYC 05 Fun With Finn and Rose 08) OST 06 Old Friends 09) OST 08 Lesson One 10) OST 09 Canto Bight 11) FYC 09 The Master Codebreaker 12) OST 10 Who Are You? 13) OST 11 The Fathiers 14) OST 12 The Cave 15) OST 13 The Sacred Jedi Texts 16) FYC 12 Rey's Journey 17) FYC 13 A New Alliance 18) FYC 14 Holdo's Resolve 19) OST 15 "Chrome Dome" 20) FYC 16 The Battle of Crait 21) FYC 17 The Spark 22) FYC 18 The Last Jedi 23) OST 19 Peace and Purpose 24) FYC Finale Runtime = 1hr 31m
  6. See, I’d randomly come to the conclusion that the map was to the first Jedi Temple, which would make more sense. But in TFA they keep going on about how it’s a map to Skywalker. And yeah, the speeders didn’t seem to do any damage.
  7. Nah, I wasn’t suggesting that the projection and Ren and Rey’s connections were similar. I think Kylo believed that Rey was using the same projection that Luke ended up doing (though she wasn’t) and that that was the setup in the film for what Luke does later. I didn’t really notice that until seeing the film a second time.
  8. Kylo alludes to projection being possible, as he says to Rey the first time their weird connection occurs “You can’t be doing this, the effort would kill you” (paraphrased), and that’s why Kylo asks “can you see my surroundings?”. At least that’s what I thought.
  9. Speaking of walkers, how on earth did they get down there? There were some on Snoke’s cut-in-half ship, so there could have been some on the remaining Star Destroyers I guess, but how were they delivered? 🤔
  10. And then that name will catch on amongst the masses... “Why isn’t the Last Jedi theme in The Last Jedi Theme Song Track??!”
  11. I’ve seen reports on the internet that DC fans have been using bots to lower the score of TLJ, due to Disney’s ownership of both Lucasfilm and Marvel) and raise the score of Justice League (Which is now around 80%). But that does sound ridiculously far-fetched.
  12. Ah I forgot to say, I saw Hoult filming a bit of this in Oxford about a month ago - there was a huge board of war posters put up, and horses and soldiers in the streets, which was pretty cool to see
  13. I’d probably rank it below RoTS but above AotC. There’s some great highlights, but I thought the action music was a bit fragmented, and the force theme a bit too prevalent.
  14. For me, the rankings are probably TFA (8/10) > Rogue One (7/10) >> TLJ (5/10)
  15. Well, I went to the double bill screening of TFA and TLJ at midnight yesterday, and I’ve got some preliminary thoughts. I‘d forgotten how good a job TFA does of setting up the new characters, and really enjoyed seeing it on a really big screen again, and one with much better sound equipment than I’m used to, so I was really looking forward to TLJ. (Also, in the ca. 30 min gap between films, the cinema seemed to play some film music very quietly - I could just make out “The King of the Golden Hall” from LotR, and “Window to the Past” from PoA, but no SW, oddly 😛) And then TLJ began, and almost from the very beginning I was slightly miffed. Hux and Snoke looked very different to me compared to TFA, I thought the dialogue was often a bit weird and unnatural, and the humour way off. I also wasn’t a fan of BB8 managing to magically fix fuses or pilot an ATST - now “The droid stole a freighter” doesn’t seem so silly, does it Kylo?) ut essentially, I guess I wasn’t keen on the tone. Wasn’t a fan of Luke’s characterisation, lobbing the lightsaber over his shoulder felt like generic, Marvelesque, out-of-character humour like in Ragnarok. Then Leia had her weird Mary Poppins moment, and that really put me off the film for a bit. The film meandered on a bit perfectly ok for a while, though I wasn’t exactly a fan of Luke’s wanting to kill Kylo in his sleep, or the odd Kylo-Rey force visions (this skill could really have come in handy previously in the saga - not a fan of the continuity there), or even Snoke’s death, which I thought was a bit of a cop-out, and a waste of potential. But the Battle of Crait started so well that by the time Superstructure Chase was quoted, I thought the film might be saved. But then Luke appeared on a horrible green screen background, and I wasn’t a fan of most of what followed. Oh well. So, to boil those incoherent ramblings down to a few issues I had with the film: Previously unencountered force powers (Rey-Kylo communication, Leia flying magic, etc.) Strange humour and odd, un-Star Wars-y, tone Inconsistent characterisation of almost all the characters compared with TFA Also underuse of Finn, who didn’t really seem to get that much to do all film. But yeah, the film generally left a sour taste in my mouth, much as I wanted to like it (and I really did want to like it). Though it made me appreciate TFA as a well made, coherent film with great characterisation all the more! (Despite being a little similar to ANH...)
  16. There were reports on some Doctor Who FB groups that someone had emailed some BBC member, who said that Murray Gold had nearly finished the S9 release and was about to start work on the one for S10 - I guess that's possibly good news?
  17. The track times from google make this track list more believable for me - “The Battle of Crait” lines up with that meaty 6:48 min:s track
  18. Also this about the music: “Most of what we heard was similar to what was in the trailers. There were a lot of times where silence (or very quiet, tense strings) prevailed for effect.” JW is a trailer clone confirmed EDIT - there were also comparisons to RotS, and some music that was “very percussion heavy. Like a military drum march.”
  19. I was thinking “Peace and Prosper” and “Canto Night” were more Djiatchino-esque
  20. Didn't WETA just put up a video about how they provided large models (if not quite bigatures) for Blade Runner 2049? And ehhhh, I guess I disagree about Rogue One. It was great looking for a film shot on digital, with no bloom plastered all over the frame, and the effects are overall pretty damn good. Also, the gap between Hobbit and LotR being shot (Say 11 years) is pretty small compared to the ca. 39 year gap between ANH and Rogue, so any visual continuity surely should have been much easier for PJ than Edwards. I suppose it's a shame that the 48fps 3D decision was made - without that, many more models could have been used, render times would be ca. 4x lower, maybe leading to better looking CG, and perhaps not quite so much bloom would have been added to "soften" the 48fps effect.
  21. Another new spot, this time with music by JW... shame it’s just DotF
