I just wanted to mention that in recent discussion, it was said Giacchino had not ever created a widespread memorable theme in his life.
And i say, if none other applies (debatable), there is one: the Marvel fanfare.
Everytime i watch a marvel product with it, i cannot get the fanfare out of my head, it is very catchy.
Maybe not widespread, but I do find that when watching films these days, for whatever reason, his themes seem to "jump out" at me the most, and I find myself noticing them in film a lot.
E.g. I didn't consciously pick up on any of Danny Elfman's Dr Strange themes in the film itself, whereas Giacchino's Dr Strange theme really did, and I remember the Ancient One's theme standing out in-film, even if I can't remember it now.
The Batman, Catwoman and Riddler themes all made an impression, as did the Indominus, Raptor, Ingen and Jurassic World themes from that film.
I guess my post isn't so much about memorability, but how prominent they are in the film. I can't believe how much the Indominus motif stood out in Jurassic World, say compared to some of JW's SW sequel trilogy themes, which all ended up (relatively) buried behind a million sound effects.

I enjoy listening to the tracks from The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang a lot, they form a nice little sequence.
I also really hope Murray Gold gets around to releasing series 10, the score to World Enough and Time/The Doctor Falls especially is great.

Hence my saying "used" in quotes.
I have heard it insisted that it was newly recorded from Silvestri's score. I can't tell you more than that.
Other than Bond and Star Wars what composers have really based a score on another composer's theme? Certainly not in anything resembling the modern era. They'll usually sprinkle in a quick reference or two or just needle-drop and existing use of a theme.
(The worst for me was when MG used a quick snip of Amok Time in Into Darkness - that was buried under sound effects and had to be pointed out to the most die-hard Star Trek fans - and then said "Hey! I used Original Series music!")
Does Solo qualify?

I don’t know why, but I have March 11th in my calendar for the album.. could be wrong

You should make a thread on here for your videos, Mono, they're brilliant. The highlight of every weekend!

Or alternatively, UK cinemas often don’t finalise their times until later in the week - our local (and big) Vue lists no showings of anything after the 28th… which is pretty standard.

If it’s John Powell I will be pretty pleased, but not terribly hopeful

Orrrrr they threw the shot together for the trailer, which has been very known to happen.
The lightning in the emperor/Rey scenes is definitely on-set lighting, anyway, which implies the whole look of the planet was known

I don't know whether this counts as a fanfare but it's absolutely rad either way:

Has Giacchino’s been included on any of his MCU albums? I definitely prefer his version.

I thought the part where Powell said only 1 of Williams’ 6 demos ended up in the place in the film it was written for was quite interesting, too.
Which do we think the 6 cues were, again?

There's a fair bit of film music that gives me chills.
Lots of the obvious parts of LotR, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, CE3K, ET etc, HTTYD, Solo...
Most recently, Sometimes Nature's Cruel and Gods Fight, Buck Takes the Lead and Rewilding from Call of the Wild.have all given me chills.
Even *imagining* Rewilding gave me chills, which I've never had before... has anyone else had anything similar?
-
I think it really sounds like Silvestri's Ready Player One, too
-
There's apparently a deleted end credits scene from Endgame where Wanda stole Vision's body, so I guess that rules out 1?

1. Rey's Theme
2. Rise of Skywalker
3. Adventures of Han
4. March of the Resistance
5. Galaxy's Edge
6. The Rebellion is Reborn
7. Anthem of Evil
8. Scherzo for X-Wings
9. Jedi Steps
10. Adagio (The Starkiller)
(Or similar - they're all great)

Its not always easy to distinguish between actual loss of detail and a loss in the illusion of detail created by the grains.
Chen, I like you, but this sounds just like Matriss ngl

I have many friends who are far more "woke" than me, none of whom would ever suggest that I shouldn't listen to JW's Harry Potter music because of JKR.
The Prisoner of Azkaban (from the LLL set)

It’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle to WW’s Kingsman, I’d say.
Way more unfocused than the first, messy, with some subplots feeling a bit ham-fisted and under-baked. Worse than Aquaman for my money (I thought that was dumb but deliberately so and really fun).
But Pedro Pascal is brilliant in it, it does have that.
