  1. Yes... What's the matter with that? Some of the most exciting performances occur live. I'm still waiting on their release of the Trumpet Concerto. Not sure what's taking so long. Back on topic, perhaps this release has been pushed back to June 9 so they have time to throw in some music from this May 24 concert (which has the same title as the album)? https://www.bso.org/Performance/Detail/86093
  2. Longer than 15 seconds, but the last few days I've been looping the last minute of 1941's "Kelso in Barstow"/"Kelso in Barstow (alternate)"/"The Invasion" like crazy. 3:08-3:23 (using "Kelso in Barstow" as an example) is my favorite bit, if I had to narrow it down. Could listen to that all day long, especially that second-to-last trumpet minor chord!!! Also love the winding violins at 3:04-3:08, the horn call at 3:15, etc. etc. The "alternate" version is great if you want to hear the third-to-last chord prolonged for full effect, but a cracked trumpet note in one of the licks preceding makes it not the best performance of this passage. Still, a real thrill of a cue. I know this score tends to get a bit tiring on the ears with the constant in-your-face reprises of the main march theme/fanfare, but if I had to pick one highlight from the score where it is not only bearable, but highly enjoyable, this would hands-down be it.
  3. I always thought this bit sounded familiar... Check out the similarities in the string lines' rhythm and contour. Am I going crazy?!
  4. Whoa! Wasn't aware of this piece, but the whole thing is basically lifted from his score to Monsignor ("Meeting in Sicily")! I'm shocked that this has never been released commercially!
  5. I don't know this one. Any idea where I could find it?
  6. As a diehard NY Philharmonic fan, I so wish they would record these concerts and release them. Even if the sound effects were obvious. The orchestra is phenomenal, and it is about time that we get some new recordings of these scores. If only Disney and the Philharmonic could work out a recording deal, and record during the rehearsal weeks (without sound effects) for commercial release. They would sell like crazy.
  7. Reminds me a bit of Giacchino's John Carter.
  8. Thanks very much! Just curious; are these playlists ALL the appearances of those themes in the OSTs? Or just your favorite appearances?
  9. Not what I was looking for, but still a great resource! Thanks.
  10. Does anyone have a link to an analysis of the various LOST themes? Pretty sure at one point I came across a good one, but am having a hard time finding any. The show has so many themes and motifs; I was wondering if anyone had catalogued their appearances on the albums.
  11. Here is my review: https://cinemusicreviews.wordpress.com/2016/12/29/rogue-one-a-star-wars-story/
  12. People in that reddit thread suggesting that the SW 8 credits music start with Leia's Theme, in place of the fanfare... <shudder>
  13. Sorry. I mean, she definitely was unfairly criticized for various things. I just hate how there has to be a word for everything. Just sounds like SJW-speak.
  14. "Ageist"? "Body shaming"? Gosh, I loathe PC lingo.
  15. One or two of them are, but aside from them I'm mainly wishing I had the music that plays when they bust Jyn out of the tank on Wobani, when they first arrive at the Rebel base on Yavin 4, the several instances of the Hope theme that aren't on the album (one that comes to mind is the statement when Cassian and the crew of Rogue One approach Jyn after the Rebel meeting), and the elephant-like motif for the AT-ACTs in the battle. AFAIK these aren't on the FYC.
  16. Does anyone think we will get a deluxe/expanded release of this score at some point? I'm hoping so; there seems to be quite a lot of music that was left off the album. In fact, some of my favorite music I noticed in the theater, is not there.
